Grim prop wont fit drive dog, malformed?

I have a 3 blade grim prop for a UL1 I just picked up, its the recommended upgrade, and I was intending to run it sans mods.. Im not really equipped to work with hazardous dust.

Imagine my surprise when I found it wont fit, due to the notch not being completely formed..

my question I guess, is do I file out the rest of the notch, and balance, without respirator gear, or do I try to return it to where I bought it as defective?

A paper dust mask should provide adequate protection. If you use a file, the excess material should just fall on your work area.

Doug,

Wear some gloves. I would never wear a paper mask.

Just so you know, that dust never comes out of your lungs.

I always wear two pair of exam gloves and full coverage 3M mask.

Reduce your drive dog a little bit, most are way to big.

Mark- you seem to be one of those specialists that was mentioned previously, can you make a recommendation in another line, or would you be willing to sort this one out for me? This prop is AQUB9760, L40X57, and is what the AQ site recommends as an upgrade for this boat.

I eventually want to get tooled up to work with props, but I dont have a real 'shop' area atm, and even if I made the investment in masks and such, I don't think they make a mask to fit my cat, he'd need one too

Ive never seen one that bad... looks like it was not poured correctly,.. may not have the blades formed correctly either

There is no way you could know this, but I work for a GP retailer, so yeah, I have em on speed dial.. lol.. but I would rather get Mark to fix it if he thinks thats possible, and maybe throw a sharpen and balance on her too.. I dont mind paying for the work 1 bit.. and I will say that I have always had great service anytime I've needed help from Hobbico / GP.. always very easy to work with...

In reference to the earlier post, it appears the hub is centered, and the blades are OK.. as long as cutting into that bottom part of the blade wont weaken it too much it should be OK.
