what is better?

flex cable - teflon pipe - brass pipe

or

flex cable only in a brass pipe

You'll get different answers on this question, depending on who you ask. Around my neck of the woods, nearly all guys run only brass tubing without the teflon. Make sure you make the "S bend" sufficient in the brass tubing, or the flex cable can whip around and "rattle" inside the stuffing tube while running.... hope that helped :)

flexshaft/brass tube only.Teflon in the stuffing box=drag that means loss of power!

I don't think the Teflon is a very good idea either.

I've seen the Teflon wad up and wrap itself around the drive shaft.
