CMB .21 piston

I just recieved a new piston and sleeve for a CMB .21 engine. The new piston has the bottom skirt cut out over half way around its bottom. The original piston had a solid bottom. Does the cut out area face forward towards the intake side or rearward towards the exhaust end? I'm a little confused please help, thanks.

The shielded area points to the exhaust and the cut area points to the intake.

YES That cut out is towards the boost port.
