I see Darin is also highlighting his conversion here too.

This is the tunnel hull built by Dave Roach. First step was to make room for the electric components by removing all the internal structures used for the gas setup. The photo shows the removal of the formers/bulkhead and installation of 1/16 ply in the floor. The transom was also covered with 1/16 ply to provide a clean surface on the transom. This is one beautiful, extremely well built boat. Installation of the lower unit is next.

I see alot more electric conversions . Who is a good supplier for electrics? What class rules are there as far as motor size and battery sizees ?

I'm more fimilar with car electrics than boats. ie . 6 cell stock , ect.

This year will be the first year for our club to run electric tunnels.

This is what we have proposed to keep it simple:

E2 Spec class

Formula E2S

Hull: OPC Style Outboard Hull (Hulls limited at 33")

* Must comply with existing OPC IMBPA Rules

Motor: AquaCraft B36/56 Brushless Marine Motor or 700 series Brushed motor

* Motor mounting must comply with IMPBA Rules

* Cooling system permitted

Speed Control: Any Electronic Speed Control

* Cooling Permitted

Batteries: 12 NiMH SubC batteries or 4s1p (lithium polymer limit of 5000 mah

Props: Single Prop ... any number of blades permitted.

These are excellent suppliers for electric RC motors, hardware and hulls:

The wife had me cleaning out some of my old trophys today. 93-95 12 cell tunnel nats winners were in there and then I stumbled across this post. Brought me back in the day. Looks like it is a Dumas 3.5 sprint hull. Same hull I used to run. I used different wood than came with the kit. Just used the pieces for templates. I have built that hull at 10oz sealed without cowl. I think Dick Crowe still runs that hull.

Yes, it is a replica of the Dumas 3.5 hull. I wish mine was a little lighter. I'll try to optimize everything else to partially compensate for the weight.
