My first venture into gas sport hydro-AM Thunderbolt w/stock 260, 257 carb, Cooper 2" band pipe. Yesterday boat went on maiden run w/6518/3 prop and got up on plane ok, but pretty slow. Rear of boat hopped some, but strut is almost parellel to bottom of hull. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much-Russ

Russ,

You may want to try a 6717/3 or a 6719/3 from either Prop Shop or VooDoo

propellers. If they don't work very well, they will need to be trimmed down a

1 mm or 2mm. Other option is to get the motor modified so it will pull them

propellers. I have a few customers with C.C.Engines that need them pitched

up,but they are running The Insane Hydro.

Russ,

A 6518/3 has 8.18" to 9.00" of cup on the trailing edge, you may want to reduce

the cup to go faster or try a 6516/3 they are working well on a lot of boats

with the hot weather we all seem to be getting lately.

Just Keep Testing,

Mark Sholund

Two members in my club have that boat, how foward is the motor, from the transom to the plug? How deep is the prop to the centerline of the shaft from the bottom of the boat? Ken

Ken-The engine is 28" from the transom and the strut is 7/8" deep. The boat weighs 16.5 lbs and the weight on the prop when the boat is resting on the rear of the sponson riding surface is 2.5 lbs. The engine is not winding up, me thinks it's too much prop. Thanks - Russ
