2016 World OB Tunnel Champs Race Results

Many thanks for all that attended and provided sponsorships for the 12th annual WTC race. The competition was quite intense and the driving among all driver's was excellent. Round 1 had calm water but the winds starting whipping up and changed directions to the long (right) side of the lake. This wind direction change roiled up the lake for the rest of the weekend. We battled the lake conditions as well as each other all weekend. We ran 5 rounds and the group decided on Friday to count 4 rounds with one round as a throw out. The awards were either 3 or 4 for each class and the results are noted below. 3 classes had run offs for 1st place.

Sponsorships were provided by Jeff Maturo/RC Racing Today for Sport B, OB Hydro and Kneeler classes. Fred Howe/Lawless Drives sponsored the D and Gas Tunnel classes. Many thanks for them.

Special note has been already been made on another thread for Max Halbrehder, a 9 year new racer, son of Jay and grandson of Mic. He is a World Champion for the Sport 20 Kneeler class. He has been well trained by both Dad and Granddad. He is calm, confident, a ball of fun and will be pushing all the racers in a year or two,

Ron Shaw, Shane Adderley, George & Ryan Pacheco (all 3 from Bermuda), Mic & Jay Halbrehder all had an excellent race with many multiple awards achieved.

A very special grateful thanks to Lee Brevoort, who took care of all of the scoring and recording in the computer. She is very competent, exacting and gave me a huge relief for the race.

The WTC numbers may have been down slightly, but the competition was there for sure. Our team came away with some firsts, seconds, and a third or two. Event was great as always and we had a great time. Mike, Martin, and I are already looking forward to next year. Thanks to John for running a great event, and to the other CMB members that helped. Thanks also to John for his hard work in preparation for this race, and for him, Scott, Gabe and Shawn that all did a great job at CD, and to Mike's wife Lee that handled the scoring and input on rcracingevents.com. Thanks also to Joe for sharing his beautiful property with us all.....

Special congrats to Max Halbrehder on his first place in kneeler. He drove great all weekend and earned it for sure. He is already a great driver. In a few more years we all will be chasing him.
