Hi Gene, Right now I like the X438 with the tounges removed but my boat is alot heavier than yours. You may have good speed with the same as above but add backcut and maybe just a fuzz off the overall dia.My fastest prop I ever ran was a S/S Prather 220 with reduced dia. down to 1.54" tweaked...
K&B 3.5 Con. Rod
Hello all, Is the old k&b stock rod #8390 any good or is the new style tublar rod better.I found a couple of the old style at a yard sale for $2.00 (new). Just wondering about the two for sport running. Thanks , Brian
Gene, Thats a FAT pipe! I bet it weighs 5 times what your CF pipe weighs. If you order one, may as well get the 3.5 preformance kit to match your purple carb!By the way I saw on K&B's website that the purple carb has been sold.Do you have any idea who owns it now????? Thanks,Brian
http://rcprops.com/TechNotes/rcprop_tech_info.htm This is a site I found today just looking around, but anything you want to know about prop mods is here.It is a gas boat page but has...
Next time you are at your local supermarket, ask the butcher for some of the pads they put in the bottom of meat trays to soak up blood. They are excellent in the bottom of your radio box, hold alot of water, and are almost weightless.
Thanks Jerry ! Just making sure its not a "sleeper" before I trash it. I like the X440 but have a better overall ride attitude with the X438. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME , Brian
Has anyone tried the yellow plastic OCTURA 1240 prop on their stock K&B 3.5 O/B. It feels like it has alot of flex in it and may tend to flatten out under load. Brian
Anyone use Red Max fuel in their K&B 3.5 O/B ? How does it preform, castor or synthetic, nitro % ect, ect, ect. The reason I ask ,I live about 1 1/2 hours from plant and can pick it up to save shipping charges. Thanks, Brian
Yeah,I didn't even think about the dreaded flip! Its not a question of "if" but when. I think the wire just makes the boat look neater without the tube. Thanks Brian
Geno, I was looking through some old plans and found your boat. Its a Dumas,Hot Shot 21 Kit#1313,no longer in production. My grandfather had this boat years ago.It came with a all wood center section and...
Are there any drawbacks in using the 1/32" wire whip antennas instead of the plastic tube. I know you have to cut the receiver antenna, but are there any other problems? Thanks,Brian
I tried the X440/3 on my K&B powered 3.5 hot shot sprint last year.It really pulls hard coming out of the turns,a little slower on the straights just dont slow down. I think its a little too much prop for a stock K&B, but give it a try and let us know.
I'm just thinking outloud(could be dangerous). I dont like the idea of RTR(ready to race)but I dont want to make others mad. What I mean is this is a "HOBBY" and we need to try and keep original ideas coming, not go buy them.
Ok,I have just bought my wold class RTR boat and I show up at the nats.Who wants to race?...........NOBODY,so where can I get my RTR world class driving skills???????? Or....The top five finishers all have this same RTR,"Man that was a close finish who won?".....Honey I went to the fights and...
Hey, thanks for all the input.I just got in from work(night shift gives me all day to play.) I like the wood kits, and enjoy building. The kit Dumas sells is the Quickie 40 and is rated for a 7.5 inboard or a 3.5 outboard,I dont know much about riggers but this kit may be a little too big for .21...
Im thinking about trying my first rigger. Is Dumas the only one that makes a kit for a 3.5 outboard? Do the outboards preform as well as the inboards? I have "GOT" to spend this money I saved before my wife finds it !!!
