Nobody is suggesting anything of the sort. Greg asked how they perform as opposed to the Eagle. Admittedly, my reply was, in fact, my opinion, but then I backed it up by using this very sale as citation, that Greg had pretty much kind of validated with the lead-up to his question ("Poof it’s gone, again...."). It wasn't until somebody without any skin in the sale questioned the sale itself that this discussion went sideways. This has nothing to do keyboard racing. This has to do with the value of an item up for sale in the eyes of an individual seeking to buy it. That's it. It's pretty simple. If you're (whoever) not a fan of Crapshooters, I'm not really sure why you would care what one sold for.

It's not so much a marketing plan. Stu doesn't build them to make money, or even to support the hobby for himself. He enjoys building them and going to races and seeing others doing well with them.

It's also not that they are light. Yes, a well built Crapshooter will be light. But, then again, so will an Eagle, Roadrunner, JAE, or whatever. Truth is, they are no lighter than literally any other boat. I'd argue that they are considerably heavier than some they've competed against. It's also been argued, or "keyboard raced" that too light of a boat is more of a liability than it is an asset. I can also tell you that I was present for the maiden trials of a Crapshooter that was built as light as could possibly be built (way beyond the norm), and it was upside down about as much as it was right side up. No. The reason they run so well is because of the exhaustive effort that has gone into making them do so.

As for certain anecdotal accounts... And? Hell.... I've beaten Stu a handful of times. It's rare, but even a blind squirrel finds and acorn on occasion. And I don't consider myself "part of the club". Certainly not initially. I was just some nobody, two years into the hobby, who called him up after buying an outdated Crapshooter from David Hagan. But the reason for my interest in the hull was simple.... The more races I went to, the more I started to see an obvious pattern. Whenever Crapshooters showed up, they took the podium. It obviously wasn't total world domination. That doesn't happen, and nobody's claimed as much. But the over/under couldn't be denied.

You naysayers aren't wrong. Any boat can win on any given day. The question was asked. The answer was given. You can search these halls and find the average sale time and selling price of the few Crapshooters that have gone up for sale, and compare those figures to the various other hulls available. There is an obvious reception of the reputation of the boat.

At the end of the day...... It ain't anybody's money but TJ's. If somebody doesn't want to bite the bullet to find out how they run, they don't need to know. Simple.

Thanks Brad for the polite response to my post, however I stand by my comments based on the numerous national races I have attended around the country in the last 10 years.

3 pages of wasted bandwidth over a boat that sold in 17 minutes. This thread is done.......
