Tunnel Boaters,
Here is an update on the flywheel shaft breakage issue on the 67 OB Engine. Thank you.

Nova 67 Outboard Engine current and future Owners:
I am pleased to make the following announcement. Novarossi has not stopped production of the 67 OB, but put production on hold so we could get a chance to correct the shaft breakage issue under the fly wheel. As you know, Nova was trying to use the same crank as the 67 direct drive, but the extra force of starting on smaller shaft end of the crank, (that was not designed to accommodate the additional forces), has caused a breakage issue. I teamed up exclusively with Gabe Clegg at Stumpfab and we now have a kit to fix the issue. As a part of our agreement, this kit is only available exclusively through Novarossi Marine USA. There are two options that will be offered. Have you run your outboard yet? If it’s still brand new in the box I will provide the kit at no charge, just email me at [email protected] for return authorization, and ship the engine to me. We will install the kit and return the engine to you. If you have run the engine, send me your crank and flywheel I will take care of most of the cost of the kit and we are only charging a flat fee of $50. This will get you a modified crank and fly wheel, and new collet. The class is really starting to grow and will actually be held at the IMPBA and Namba Internats this year. Because it was a new project initiated by Novarossi Marine USA and a new product offering as with the 21 and 46 predecessors, Nova didn’t want to invest a lot of money into the product until we knew it was going to take off and hopefully grow to levels of where it used to be years ago and beyond. More tunnel manufacturers are coming out with 60 size tunnels that will make the class become even more popular over time. Just look over the two options above and let me know what option you choose and let me know. I am thankful to work with a company like Novarossi IT that stands behind their products and customer base to the levels I have witnessed over the years. I have posted a couple of pics below for reference showing the new 8mm shaft extension modification. This kit will be installed on all new engines going forward exclusively from Novarossi Marine USA. Novarossi IT is also looking at a production change to incorporate the stronger shaft extension on their new production cranks at some point in 2020. Thank you.

This is great news! Thanks Nova Rossi, Ron Shaw & Gabe Clegg from Stump Fab for going to bat and making this fix happen. It is this kind of customer support and performance that keeps me very happy to be a Nova Rossi owner, driver, supporter and racer. I am looking forward to seeing this outboard beast on the track again. If you have not seen the new Nova Rossi 67 outboard run you are missing an awesome display of raw power and performance.

THANKS to ALL!

Thank you Carl!!! Nova now has a great “full line-up” of outboard engines to go along with their strong inboard engine group as well. Their commitment to our hobby is much appreciated.

To follow-up on my post above, the joint agreement between StumpFab and Novarossi Marine USA for this design concept and engineering change is an exclusive agreement covering all Novarossi products. We set it up this way to eliminate any confusion whatsoever and help me track the requested modifications to Novarossi engines. Due to our joint efforts and agreement on this project and its design, please do not reach out to Gabe at StumpFab but reach out to me at [email protected] only if you want to move forward with this update, or if you’re interested in applying this update to other Novarossi products. Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you.

Ron ask nova to remove the silicon from the crank ,,it's not needed..and be more user friendly for most.

David,
All Novas run the silicone ramp as it lightens the crank but still provides smooth fuel flow into the crank. Has worked well for many engine manufacturers including Nova for years!!! Since this is more of a general request, if you want to discuss further can you start another thread so we can all discuss without hijacking this announcement thread? Thank you.
