Thought that's what I saw there, nice touch!

Great job Buck, you're gonna be tough to beat in Cinci!
He's going to have to enter to be beat. Come on Buckshot, I told you, don't make me threaten you with a good time!

Boat looks great, it will be a top contender.

What pipe and carb did you end up using with that motor?

The foam is Divinycell H-45. Ian Folkson in Slovenia built the tank, I’ve been using them in all my current outriggers and they are the 💩.
Did you use the foam for extra floatation? Have not seen it before in JAE's, have only seen it in Andy's riggers.

I did it for a few different reasons, saving weight wasn’t one unfortunately. I figured it would add more surface area for sticking it to the bottom of the tub, figured it might stiffen the ski overall, and flotation was an added benefit. I have half a mind to make ski with a little taper on the sides like the SGX skis.

The D-13 GP Series race in Atlanta is the same weekend as the Nitro Nats this year. Unless I win the lottery or someone wants to sponsor me, I can’t make every race. Trust me, I would if I could!!!!

Never doubted my chances. 😘

Pipe is a CMB nitro pipe w/Rum Racer muffler.
Carb is a Zoom by the late Charles Purdue.

I like the idea with the foam, will do the same on my JAE21OB.
What would be the benifit of the taper you think?

I hear ya Buck. I've been selective as well in the past. Can't fit it all in. I'm going to both nats this year. We got Airbnb's to split up among 3 people for both and that helps a lot with the cost.

Boat looks great. It's good to see that someone can build a very competitive boat with pretty much readily available parts and not have to send anything out for hop ups. I would think the Speedmaster carb will be just as effective as the zoom on this application. I've used both types of carbs and they are very similar. Thanks for sharing this information for the model boating community to see!

I’ve been asked some of the same questions by a few people so I’ll post here. There are no secrets regarding this project since it is to entice others to build.
The motor in the video and the photos are the same.
Nothing has been done to it except a head clearance adjustment.
The engine comes with three head shims: (2) .003” & (1) .009”. With no shims the clearance is ~.002” so I removed the .009” shim to have ~.008” total clearance.
Nothing else in the engine has been modified at all.
The carburetor I’m using is ~11mm I.D. and is what I had laying around. Since they are no longer available I strongly suggest ordering one from Speedmaster. Or any Carb that fits the Nova .45DD’s will fit this engine.
Can it be bigger? Sure. Will it be better? I don’t know, try it and find out.
Any other questions, ask here. ✌️

watch tapering the ski,it may suck water up the the side of it. Just saying.

Hopefully some new boaters will see this post and consider a similar build.
I think Buckshot has done everything possible to keep this build simple and most of all stock.
As a RC group we owe a big thanks to Zip Kits and Al Hobbs for their support of our hobby.
Lastly Buckshot has shown you can build a competitive heat racing boat for a lot less than some other choices.

What pipe and length are you running to go 86 mph?

What prop?

Is that the Futaba GPS speed readout?

CMB Nitro pipe @ 9.5” measuring from ~CL of the cylinder (side of the case) along the side of the header and pipe to the seam.

It’s a SkyRC GPS. Had it in my twin when I was in Valdosta last month and it was +/- 2-3 mph. Close enough for this kind of exercise.

Thanks Tim.
YES! Everything in/on this boat is readily available to anybody from various vendors, which I think I have listed most of them, if I’ve missed any just ask and I can tell you where to get it. With the exception of the zoom carburetor, pipe mount and the little “cowl induction hood scope”.

Cool, gotta try some of those ABC props.

Thought it might be the SkyRC but the app looks different than mine, they are very accurate when I compared side by side to the SM Modellbau unit in my SAW boat.
