Hey fellas,

I have seen a lot of new people on here selling odds and ends and are approved members but it seems that with all the technology why is it so hard to post a picture, the saying "is that a picture is worth a thousand words", should it be a rule here to have to post a picture with a for sale item? We have implemented a law that if you are a new member you need so many posts and so on. So why don't we use this same method and if you are going to sell a item you need a picture to go with it? I am just curious and am not trying to ruffle feathers by any means, or am I over thinking this? Any information would be great.

Thanks Beau

As long as they can email you a photo I'm fine with it. The part that gets me is when they as you to pay the extra 3_4% for using PayPal....

As long as they can email you a picture it should be fine I don't see the need of posting a picture with every post as long as it can be provided when asked. As far as the PayPal % fee that's on the buyer and seller. There's no fee if you pay as gift but if you make a regular payment you will pay a fee.

Kevin, apparently it is against the 'paypal law' to add fees...prices shown must include them. How the help they can police that I don't know!

I always just add the 3.5% fee into the price. Unless its a few hundred dollar purchase, then they can deal with there own fee's.

Kris I agree with you on that the sale price must include Paypal fees you should not pay extra.

just so you know if you pay with paypal and pay as a GIFT.. if something is wrong with the purchase or some sort of issue you are STUCK.. they will NOT help out at all.. so keep that in mind when you are trying to save that 3 - 4 %

This was my thought as well Chris. Most of the transactions here are "straight up", but there have been a couple that definitely make it worthwhile to pay the fees for buyer protection. I also agree that "pending a pic via email" should work to help verify condition before completing the purchase.

Well hate to burst the bubble but even when you pay normally (not gift) it is a 50/50% chance that you will be covered. I've had 2 instances where I needed to go after the other end and once I got reimbursed (the Lift n Lok tool box fiasco but it took a while) and once they said there was nothing they could do as the person had a zero balance and cancelled the "back up funding" credit card. I know of someone who got ripped twice using "regular" paying with no help from Paypal and he will not accept it any longer. If someone is going to put the screws to you they'll find a way. Instead of worrying about if paying using the "personal" format better bet is to be sure who you are dealing with and the reputation of the person. That is one of the reasons we added the minimum post count before selling requirement.

I only use credit cards for online purchases. I have had a couple of instances where paypal and ebay's buyer protection were put to the test and found to be useless. Both times I called my credit card company, and they reimbursed me and then they went after the dishonest merchants.

I have had issues with posting pics on the site. I believe if someone is willing to email you a pic its OK. If you have flights, go with your gut. Many of us have been on for awhile or know of the new guy.

I usually only purchase from the reputable people here. Its nice to have a picture listed with the sale but pictures to an email are fine too. Myself, I always add a picture and as much information as possible about the item.

Beau. I posted a bunch of stuff in the for sale section with no pictures. I primarily use my IPhone for everything because I have no computer. If you could show me how to post a picture with my I phone I that would be kool. I don't know how.

Apparently posting pics off a PC is a lot easier. But 90% of the time I access by iPhone or iPad. This site as with this country I think we have enough rules!!!

Its fairly easy to attach pictures from your phone. When you go to start a new thread, at the bottom it says "go to full site" or something along those lines. Click that, then there should be an area at the bottom for attachments. Attach whatever photos you want, then click post.

Fellas,

I would rather use my iphone it is very easy, take a picture and plug and play. I am not too savvy on the computer but pictures are easy once they are on the phone, I just plug it into my computer and a icon pops up and asks if you want to export pictures and or movies, I rename these and they will be saved in my pictures folder. And when selling items you just find the pictures folder and attach the pictures and bam you are done. For me it is way easier and faster to post pictures with a for sale item then sending a email, just my opinion.

Rodney, not that easy with the Droid software. I select the image to the absolute smallest my HTC goes (640x480). Guess what, still unable to upload.... Yup, I get nothing but the old "image is too big to upload". I even went to the site tinypic.com and tried that.... So I'll be number 3 for the class.
