Guys,

The plans are for the race registration to be open later this week, I suspect close to the weekend. Registration will be through the RCRacingEvents.com website. That is being worked on now. I will post to this and Jim's sites when the registration will be open. I would suggest that all start planning on what classes you will run and when it opens, you can get it done quickly. Last year's race sold out in 17 days and this one may also.

David - I cannot say any more about what is in store but I think you will like it. You are dead on when you noted about the huge holes from the twins. It is a big challenge.

Joe has multiple twins and has one for the twin rigger class and one for the F Hydro class. Actually multiples of each. Last year he was here on Wednesday breaking in new engines and ran over 100 laps and tons of fuel doing it. It was fun to watch Joe and Ralph working on it. I hope to see it again this year. I marvel at his detail and work with them.

A few observations: Buckshot stateing the 1.0 motors, Had seem them run many years ago. But the performance advatange was never gained so to speak.

As for 36mm cylinders. Will, you would know what you are looking at, just as I would know if you have 101 P/S. But I would not know about the 36mm unless you pointed it out.

And What Joe said about the limits of the 101 motors...................We have just begun to know how far they can go. I.E WILL...............I can turn YOUR twin set of props!!!!! Your BIG set!!!!!    :D :D

You don't need two eng or three eng to go fast. I think it is just mine is bigger than your thing if you ask me.

Hope John is planing what I think he is so the fast boats can run fast with out any supper tankers getting in the way.

If so I will be there.

Dave it is about the Power... Not speed! Nitro Twins are in the 12-13 Hp range total, in a 15 lb boat. With a set of nice props & 28-30000 RPM make for a WILD RIDE with Plenty of Power. The Current RS101 is Very Good out of the Box... BUT must have the head bowl volume Corrected to race 60-65 Percent Nitro. With the head bowl volume opened up & a little rotor timing. makes for a Engine that is dependable & fassssssssssssst!! The ole 100 engine has low transfers & boost timings, With the release of the AAC RS91 a few years ago cmb had changed the deck on the case & rasied the timing numbers up. jerry Crowther was one of the first to cut the sleeve on a 100 P/L to put it into the new RS91 case with longer stroke & raised deck, Shortly afterwards Tidewater done a few in house. the following year CMB put it into production. Mark Bullard does some Nice Mods on the RS101 & Steve Wood has Good Numbers too........ This Engine allows you to Swing the hell out of a 67-70 mm props. When the Race Chop Comes......... the 62-64 mm boats slow down & the 67-70 mm Boats Go Faster. I have seen Andy Go 124 mph with 1 little single engine too. In Good water conditions. With most clubs running multiple classes today we normally see 7-8 boat heats. There will be No Good Water, So you must set up for the Race Chop......... Racing Twins in F class is legal in IMPBA. Many enjoy building a 90 size Twin & racing it in F & Twin engine classes. A club would have to change there race flier prior to the race entry. If they have other plans outside the rule book?? Charelston could make there race program better By Allowing the top 6 Gas twins to race for a ShootOut & the top 6 Nitro Twin race for a ShootOut Award! This promotes Both Classes @ the same race.

If the only difference is the Piston & Sleeve...how can you tell if its really a 1 cuber or not hiding under that 91RS cap without pulling the button off? Is there really something to identify it?

Chuck...are you sure about that? Those 2818's are not my BIG props.. but if you really think you can pull my big set no problem, you know me...i have no problem stickin my props on someone elses boat (just like i did for Ralph in atlanta, and we dont know each other for nothin before then ;) )

IN FACT... you pull these props, and pull them hard... ill sell every gas boat i have and buy me a twin 1.01 boat    B) :p :p

and ill even give ya a HINT... STOCK they are 76mm @ 6" pitch B)

Wil, F engines that appeared the same on the outside but had differnt CID are MAC 67-84, Picco 67-80, CMB 91-101, CMB 90-100, OPS 67-80, CMB 67-80 there may have been others before my time. Many mfgers play with the bore & leave the stroke the same, However Picco kept the bore the same & played with the stroke. If you ever had a question it only cost $5 to tear someone down legally @ A RACE. However... He can tear you down for the same $5 amount!!!!! & you can bet he will... I have protested engines @ national events & have been protested. Never found anyone (Not Legal) from my experience. B) Most boaters I know what the rules to be fair for everyone racing From start to finish.. Club members & out of town racers, very important for the club to call the race by the book. its the only written guide lines we all have.

There is one way to tell between the RS 101 and the RS 91. That is the head button looking were the plug screws in. The RS 91 has a recessed button at the hole of the cap, the RS 101 has a step that stands into the hole of the cap.

I have turned the 2818's props. Don't like them that much. They load the motor to much. They may work fine on a motor that don't turn any RPM's but on a high winding RPM motor they keep to much water on the blade. I am running 1667's with 7.5" of cupped pitch.

Yes i know you can protest. In the nitro classes i can see it being handy with how you just showed so many different engines utilize the same case but are different sizes.

And im all about having the rules and racing fair for everyone as well. Have never protested anyone, and have never been protested.. mainly because with the gas classes, other then the stock classes we are basicly run what you brung in our region of the IMPBA, so theres really no reason to have to protest someone. Only way to really cheat when you are basically allowed to run any engine you want is to run an illegal fuel like nitro anyway, and thats only good for so much of a gain if you dont eliminate the ignition.

And you should know after atlanta, im all about having the competition being fast, regardless if i have to race against them or not. Thats why i helped you and Ralph to go the right direction for a gas boat with his rigger. B)

Sometimes they hope you are fractionally over on CID..... Not that you are running a BIGGER engine. 67 engine size gets real critical on measuring if you have split numbers while measuring Bore/stroke. 80`s/90 engines there is is way more lead way than fractional numbers or split numbers. All of the other clubs promote the classes that enter. I would like to watch the top 6 Gas TWIN`s compete. & the Top 6 Nitro Twin Compete for a SHOOTOUT race. Its the same reason we dont mix 90 hydro & 90 mono.... they are not the same boat. Gas twins only exist in Florida & close surrounding area`s

actually there are gas twins out in texas, cali, vegas, etc. You just dont see or hear of them since they are mostly in NAMBA, and they dont have enough in 1 place out there to really get to race them yet anyway.

I see no reason other then just getting to run some more laps, to keep having the Nitro vs Gas twin shootouts anyway. Every year its the same thing.. we lack the speed to actually be competitive against the nitro's without having to run tightest line possible, and the nitro's have issues half into the race dealing with the water conditions we create.

Please refer to post #45.

An observation - even though Ross Medina has won both of the twin rigger championship races, he has done it by being good enough to hang tough and stay running. The nitro twins were faster but they did not finish, in either year's races. Just may have to think about some other race strategy and not just about WOT all of the time.

sounds fine enough.. though i doubt i will run twin in charleston as i cant take the chance of the boat getting hurt with the record trials being the weekend after
