WILD THING MONO by John Finch - Construction Article -

Yep well tested rock solid P setup, pretty hard to beat for reliability and speed. Checked the supply, still have a bunch of sheets of 48x12x1/16 ply, enough 1/4 left for a transom. Just some 1/2" balsa to buy. LOL If we're lucky things have turned construction wise, be nice to be able to...

WILD THING MONO by John Finch - Construction Article -

Kens is someting to see, really hauls! I've been running a 24"er with a .12 nitro setup, until it ingested a ring. New P/S for that one. Going to try one at 32" run it 4s2p with a 1515 1y, 200 amp esc, won't be this year. Finishing up a Whip20 and Delta Force 29 clone for P-Limited setups.

    My day job

I plow and sand with a F-550 with the V-10, guttless fuel sucking pos! Before that ran a F-250 brand new, trans went out in the first two months, had to fight with ford to get it replaced under warranty. I've been plowing for almost 20 years, thats the first transmission I've ever had fail in a...

1/16 scale Miss Rock 2-3s which b/l motor?

I ran a Lehner 4200 basic xl in mine on 2s2p. That boat is retired now, too small for the power of the brushless motors I tried. Something like a Leopard 2860 would probably be a good motor for an older design hydro. Lotta lift in the older designs from the brushed motor days.

1/4 Scale Kneeler - Old School

Looks very similar to one I've got drawn up for UL-1 power, Don't think I'll ever build it though, we have a couple Kneelers running around here but people went off in different directions for power so I kinda lost interest, would have been fun to have 3 running together, oh well.

    Swordfish esc's

Check out OSE. This issue was discovered, discussed and fixed about a year ago with Swordfish 200 and 240 escs. Actually 2 different threads about it.

    esc for HV

God you're arrogant, the cap on a esc is a plain simple low pass filter no matter how complex you attempt to make it sound! Look it up! You don't think that applies to an amp? I'm pretty sure all the ones I've worked on have low pass filters! The math and theory is the same!

    esc for HV

Caps are there to smooth the ripple current from the switching of the esc, not anything to do with "storing current" for spikes or takeoff, an impossibility with the size of caps we use. PLus they never actually discharge in this application. Some capacitance is required for filtering, more...

    Eagle tree calibration?

Cool! Want to do a mid week rip down the road from my place? Give it a test! Oh ya LOL I bought a Whiplash 20 kit this morning! Not sure what came over me except the kit is in Canada and the shipping will be cheaper. Going to shelf it until winter, decide how to power it then.

    Eagle tree calibration?

Or try a 2s pack to keep the tip rpm down on the prop, amp draw would go up but I'd imagine it would still be within reason. A 1600kv motor would only be doing a little over 13000 rpm on a 2s pack, thats well within reason. Not sure what Kv you've got, can't remember.

    1/10 vintage hydro cowling builders?

Hugh, I just don't like the looks of the carved cowlings, I want glass or plastic so I can get the original hollow look. Plus if I carved my own plug made a mould and pulled a cowl would take a long time and only get used once. Looking at the big picture it just doesn't make much sense if I can...

    Eagle tree calibration?

Ken I've got a couple air props around here, if you can figure out how to mount one you can try it, Maybe use one of my 4s setups to drop the rpm at bit. No idea what size would be best, think I've got a couple 9 and 10 inchers left. Might need a cheap prop adapter from Lakefield. Back to the...

    1/10 vintage hydro cowling builders?

Thanks Brian thats the ticket! Might go for the driver, this isn't a race boat, more of a usable shelf queen. Got bored and went nuts on the hull details, I'd be most unhappy if this one got run over! Even cut the mahogany veneer to scale ply sizes, decked it with the same pattern used on the...

    1/10 vintage hydro cowling builders?

Looking for a cowling for a 1/10 vintage hydro. Does anybody do such critters out of fiberglass? Hull can still be finished as a number of boats so I'd be interested in just about anything, Wahoo, Shanty etc. Hugh don't hijack my thread!

    Can anyone explain this?

Section 14 of the owners manual. FAR FAR more important!

    Bad Bad outing today!!

You'll love it! I downloaded my data from today, you can watch the amp draws go down as I raised the strut running that prop of yours I borrowed. LOL boat got faster and amp draw went down. 3/32 of an inch and the amp draw went down by 10 amps. RPM figures were all screwed up though, logger was...

    Bad Bad outing today!!

Ken I can show you how to run higher amperages on an eagletree 150 if you get one. One might still be for sale on OSE with the GPS module, was last week at least.

Dumas Pay N Pak sport 20 FE

I wouldn't take the bet because you build junk and are a know it all B.S artist. Plain and simple! The more you run off at the face the funnier you get!

Dumas Pay N Pak sport 20 FE

Evidently doesn't understand a concours type scale build! LMAO! The "pretty holes" are there for a reason, the full sized boat had them so the model has to! Oh the ignorance! And yet in another post you called yourself a "scale builder" to quote. I have no earthly idea where you came up with...
