Joe,

The lake height is good and we have had over 7" of rain in the past week. The water will be good and expect clean. This lake is normally 25' deep and the water rarely gets murky. It is normally so clear that there is 3-4' of weeds on the bottom of the lake. Fast is it.

We have a food vendor planned and it will be on site Friday through Sunday and are looking to get Thursday as well.

Will update as we get closer to the race.
Thanks John.... for the Update. We like that Clean Water....... Zoooom!!! Zoooom!!!

To the top ! Thrash continues !

Update for all - The food service vendor will be on site Thursday through Sunday for lunch. Will try to get them in for breakfast Friday through Sunday if there is enough interest and support to do so.

In addition, we will have new tee shirts for sale available at the race only. Do not have a price yet, that will come later but should be around $15 or so each. Also have a few of the 2014 race tee shirts for $10 to clear them out. Limited sizes and quantity available.

There are a few slots available for the race in some classes. Check them out and enter if you desire. The race entry module will be closed before long, deadline is Oct.1st if not before.

Racers,

Some of you have seen the Weather Channel broadcasts this morning. I have received calls about the broadcasts. A tornado (estimated at 100+ MPH) rolled through John's Island SC at 1am this morning and nailed our race site. Significant damage has occurred to our building and we lost about half of the trees. The second story CD tower, roof, walls and floor are all gone. The storage room below the 2nd floor CD tower had water damage. The race clocks and the PA amps were in the room. Will have to go through them carefully to get them back into operating condition. The PA system on the building and among the trees is severely damaged. The electrical system in the building has been damaged. The floating dock, steps and the walkway going down to the dock has been damaged. The driving stand appears to have no damage. We just had the primary chase boat repaired and was brought to the lake last evening. The engine was hit by a falling tree and the cowl is missing. We will need to get another one and test the boat. Don Ferrette will be posting some pictures later today of the damage we incurred.

However not all is lost. The CMB club has every intention of still hosting the race. There are repair crews on site now removing the fallen trees and will continue tor a few days. The club members will convene tomorrow morning and start the building repairs and continue with the site cleanup. We do not expect to have the time to get everything back into the original shape by race time and all of us will have to adapt to the situation we have been dealt. We are most grateful that no injuries occurred. Let's be flexible with us so we can still host the race. We will still be doing repairs until race time. Due to this, there will be NO open water on Tuesday, October 6th. It will commence on Wednesday, October 7th.

Wow John it sounds like the Elizabeth City time trials all over again. Glad no one was injured. Hopefully Joe and his family and neighbors around the pond faired good as well. If there's anything I can do just let me know. Good luck with the cleanup.

Here are the pics from Charleston race site and as you can see the damage is extensive. Hats off to them for choosing to go all in and still hold the Fall Nats in 2 weeks.

About half of the downed trees were removed from the lake site today. There was one backhoe on site today, tomorrow there will be 2. This time tomorrow the broken trees should be gone. Then it on to rebuilding the docks, steps, CD tower and getting the PA and electrical systems replaced. It is fortunate that this did not happen next weekend as it is for sure the race would have been canceled. We will do our best to hold this race for everyone so plan on it for now.

We have been some huge storms before but not a tornado. It is a sobering reminder that nothing we can do can ever offset the power of Mother Nature.

Put all those trees in a pile for the BONFIRE !! So sorry this happened for sure . I have a pristine 25 HP Yamaha(2 stroke ) outboard that I will offer up for service . All I ask is that the boys treat it right . I will be in town tuesday and will be available for some grunt work within my capabilities . LMK

Hey John we need to pass a hat around for donations so you guys have some seed money to re build I'll send $50 for the first donations. Tim and Richard will bring it down for the race.

Wow, very sorry to see this. Thankful no one was injured.

Yes, hats off to the CMB for pushing through and holding the race.

Anthony, John, & crew, let me know if I can do anything on this end.

D.
