The 1.225" is for the old purple heads

Don, you may still be able to get that apparel. If martin wants, he can mill the sides of the PPL head carb to .812 by taking about .032 off the same sides where the screw holes are and slot the screw holes to fit the VAC. Not really pretty but it will get you by until a VAC Zoom come along.
