Is there a rule of thumb as to where one places the turn-fin on an outrigger for best performance??? In relation to the overall length of the hull, or ???, how does one go about deciding where to put it and how far to set it back from the sponson???

Thanks,

Hello Darin,

You first need to fing the balance point of the entire rigger. Then I like to put the lower rear 1/4" of the turn fin right about there.

At least that's the way it works for me. :)

As far as having to set back the turn fin, you can first screw on a length of strong carbon fiber and bolt the top of the fin to thatl.

Don ;)

The rear lower tip of the TF is normally about 1" behind the CG. You can move it forward from there but probably do not want to get forward of the CG.
