Can't believe nobody has offered you any help! I was looking at the same boat but fiberglass. Got out of electrics 30 years ago, but with all the new stuff thought I would try my luck again. I to would like to hear from someone also on these ( TFL) boats.

As for Q hydro or Sport Hydro I would stay away from a Seaking 180 and spend the money for a Castle XL2X and never look back. For motor you can't go wrong with a 4060 TP (40X92) or the larger 4070, $130-$150.

Looking at the pics provided, I don't think this hull (without modification) would be legal in Q-Sport hydro.
The two runners just outboard of the shaft running pretty much the length of the hull are what has me thinking it is not legal.

Appreciate the info guys. Never saw the two runners lol. As for the speed controller I've heard nothing but good about them especially with the add on cooling plate from StumpFab. So who makes some competitive Q hydros???
