I have an older Sullivan Model 4 starter powered from two 12V SLA batteries. One of the batteries died and needs to be replaced.
Has any one tried running one of these starters off a Lipo battery or similar?
Thinking there might be something smaller/lighter than the lead batteries.

Thanks in advance.

I run my Model 4 with a 6S Li-ion pack I built from commonly available round cells. A 5S or 6S lipo pack will also work. 4000-5000mAh will get you through any weekend. 35C is all that's needed, but no harm if you find a higher C rated battery. You will find that the stock switch will weld itself or fail pretty soon given the high inrush currents available from modern batteries so look into an aftermarket starter switch.
