RR Merlin dummy engine

What is the best way to clean the engine to get rid of the mold release agent to get it ready for painting? Will soap and water work or do I need to get something special?

Did you try PreSol (PrepSolvent) it is a grease and oil remover used in the auto painting feild, i am not sure what the mold release is made of but i would guess that it is some petrolium based agent? I have used it to remove a lot more than grease and oil though, just a thought...

If you use PVA as your mold release, warm soapy water does the trick. I use a scrub brush too.
