Rod direction on CMB 67 greenhead

Does the small notch on the big end of the rod face the carb or the crankshaft.

DOes the bearing shield on the large bearing face the crankshaft or the output end of the crank?

Next time I will pay close attention during disassembly.

Jack,

Some of the rods have multiple notches on the face of the rod. Put the rod in with the most notches facing the flywheel. Crank bearings have the balls facing the carb.

Which side should the skirted part of the piston be on. The Intake side or the exhaust side?

The skirted side should always be to the intake side. Full piston skirt to the exhaust side.

Thanks, I wasn't paying attention to the rod side either then I looked at the piston I was like, oops.
