Was that pipe designed for a 180 deg header? I don't mean to be a you should have done this or that or add insult to injury.
My s-pipe doesn't have this issue and still has the collar still on it and is 3-3/4-1/2"" from the glow plug.
It has no problem with 5/8x 3/16" silicone mat.
