Martys design works crazy as I witnessed again today ...lots to be gained here in corner speed ...the 20 boat is stupid in the corner.... almost speeding up !!

Where can a person get some of this 1/8 inch carbon plate?

Aeromarine Composites has a "scrap piece area" on thier site. Just Google and you will find.

If you are using a bank saw to cut it, get yourself a couple of cheap blades to use. Carbon will wipe out a blade very fast.

Actually it is http://www.acp-composites.com/acp-cat.htm Not sure if this is the same company? Might be. Looks like it IS the same company with a new website. First time I have seen their new website.

Aerospace Composites.

Yeah that's it.. http://www.acpsales.com/

No clue how I came up with Aeromarine..

Thanks Chris on the heads up on McMaster.com. Ordered the piece the other day, pay for it and recievied a reply the next day stating that they will not ship to Canada?????

Will try someplace else.....

This is probably 'old news' to most of you but I came across this re-post of an article that presented some interesting ideas about turn fins....for all I know, these are all dated ideas but at the least, it seems pertinent to the discussion here if for no other reason than to rule it out in the name of 'been there and done that'.

I'd love to hear comments on the reference to Ed Hughey's success with a full bodied hydro.....straight fin....mounted on the LEFT side of the tunnel???? Sitting at a computer, it makes more sense to counteract the rolling forces by lifting the left sponson instead of planting the right one. At the lake, I'm not sure how it would actually work out.

Full size oval racing boats race counter-clockwise...........hence the turn fin on the left sponson!

Dick, I didn't mean 'full sized' hydro.....just full bodied (i.e. not an outrigger).

Supposedly, this was a model boat...making the standard right hand turns with the left side fin. The article mentions that it's difficult to take advantage of fin spray in this way with an outrigger.

Sorry Steve, my bad. Just got back from the Fall Nationals race and sat down on the computer to unwind a little. Need to slow down and read what is written!
