outrigger strut

Last weekend my friend and I were running his Hawk rigger. I noticed the brass bushing inside the strut would vibrate back out of the strut causing the prop to flail about. At the end of the day the larger end of the bushing was gone. What did we do wrong to cause this? thanks in advance Mike

I've had that problem before. I use a very similar set up to what your using. In the end, it turned out to be a badly balanced prop that was causing the problems. I think I would recheck your prop's balance.

Well, I've been waiting awhile for results. What was the problem after all? Was I right?

I haven't run the boat since I encountered the problem. I thought I had balanced the prop, but I will recheck it before its next outing. The boat will probably see water over this holiday week. Thank you for your input.
