I just wanna drop a reminder than Gas Tunnel is slated for a one year trial run this year, so its time to step up to the plate, knock the dust off, and get em rolling. We need numbers, and competition. Theyve taken major steps since first inception within our organization, so show up and show out!AD2A521C-5ABF-437F-87E2-1C8B0591779D.jpeg

Brandon any way you could post who is making the hulls and lower units that we will need?

Thanks,

Jeff

Yea for sure!

First and foremost a pretty one stop shop, insane RC sells a hull and lower end, and many other gas related items that can come in handy.

Zippkits sells a wood hull that requires some diy building capabilities, but their instruction guide should be of some assistance.

QuickDraw and BH Hanson both sell outboard exhaust kits, drop a quick google search for either website and theyll steer you in the right direction.

Any gas motor should work, but from experience a 29-30.5 is recommended due to the torque and power required to push these things along.

Also available hull options include Mike Crawford (Woodstuff tunnels) and I believe Vans Racing has their 470 available, the latter being our go to option.

Lawless lowers is another top of the line gas lower everyone should take a look at.

As far as servos go, standard for throttle. Steering is town two ways, seems some like to do a double high torque quarter scale setup for steering, while we prefer the servo city gear box

Servo for pulling big power gasoline tunnels: I am trying both Servo City gear box and the new Hitec HS1100 WP servo, for ease of installation a single servo seems easier and fits well in the receiver box.

Woodstuff - Unless you can talk Mike into making a tunnel, he does not build anymore.

PTI has the GX-480 that is for gas. I'll be adding that to my collection for next year. It's the last boat on the scrolling pics on the home page. There's no description, but that is the GX-480.

Guys,

We are in the process of talking to suppliers in hopes of putting together a nice package deal for our LSG Outboard Tunnel. I have a couple more calls to make and then I can announce what we plan to offer this class to help pull more interest for 2018. The main goal here is to get the total RTR price of these boats down. We should see a lot of progress in this class by this time next year. I am open to suggestions as well.

A little more info for everyone!

Here are the direct links to our recommended gearbox setups.
7:1 Ratio
counterclockwise rotation, and 90° capacity should get you through.
We recommend getting it preassembled, unless you are good with electronics.

This battery should do the trick for ya, we now run a 5000mAh battery, built at battery Bulbs Plus, for the little bit longer life. Two packs a race, and keep them charged!!

Good baseline for props are around the Prather 270, and Octura x470 range, based on your setup.

I forgot to mention that the boat that we will offer for the 2018 LSG O/B Tunnel Trial Season was designed and built three years ago and has undergone one tweak since then. I am working with the laser to get the price of the kit as low as possible.

I will continue to support the LSG O/B Tunnel guys. I hope to see this class grow. These guys have worked hard for the past 8 or 9 years to bring something NEW to outboard tunnel racing. If you are interested in building one of these boats (no matter what hull design you plan to set up) you can contact me at: [email protected]

FYI!! The IMPBA Gas Nationals registration opened up on Saturday. Looks like there will be at least 1 full heat of Gas Tunnels. The 1 year trial is off to a good start. Keep it goin guys.
