anyone ever use kevlar cloth instead of fiberglass cloth to reinforce the tub on a rigger? if so, explain the likes or dislikes about it. i am askind case i found some 1/4 oz cloth and was thinking about using it.

Kevlar is supposed to be tougher than fiberglass, but it is also much harder to cut bothe before and after is has been laid up. After layup it is very difficult to sand the edges. MikeP has done a bit of work with it and found cutoff wheels on dremels worked pretty well.

I have some 1/4 oz stuff that is very thin and easy to cut. Its not a woven mat, its a unidirectional fiber mat

Here is a good test

Get a piece of scrap lay it with the kevlar. After it cures sand the edges clean and drill a hole in it. This will let you know what you are in for.

Then go for it, plenty of help at International Waters.
