Lol- Musk has done some super amazing stuff- they have several boosters with more than 3 flights and recoveries-on a barge / at sea . Not to mention the twin landings at the Cape after Falcon Heavy - there was bound to be a learning curve and they figured it out.

Thats the one thing about rocket guys Rrray - when we fail - we fail spectacularly , but when it goes right - we are heroes in our own minds :D
Go big or go home :p

Finally got a chance to fly my Miss Riley at last months TTRA Tampa launch- http://www.tripoli-tampa.com/home.html
for those that dont know , this is the rocket used in the Movie " October Sky " . The original 'Miss Riley' for the Movie was built by Ky Michaelson - Buddys father. Buddy redesigned the original and offered 100 VERY special kits - I proudly own Miss Riley #66 of 100 . Its an outstanding rocket with a bunch of very cool details The certificate of authenticity is hand signed by Ky Michaelson and Homer Hickam - Homer happens to ( again for those that dont know -https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homer_Hickam ) had his fair share of accomplishments in his life -
Its a pretty special rocket that earned its first flight and will more than likely get parked and hung on the wall -
Time will tell. ;)

Man.. I just cannot begin to understand..

ya win some.. ya loose some.. (I know that sounds bad).. but he was gambling BIG TIME!

Grim

Grim, I wonder if he even knew he lost the chutes off the pad - he certainly did when they didnt deploy
No worries there Rrray - thats the beauty of rocketry , its all on me - if I loose one or lawn dart one , I still drive away and get to do it again till its right ;)

havent launched one in many moons, but used to fly f-g stuff every now and then... usually kept it to F20s or so, anything past that was too high to recover at the field we had...
