I don't own one, nor have I ever used one...but my understanding is that they are used to pass gas (commonly propane) through the fuel system of a nitro boat, to see what rate of fuel flows through at the current needle settings.

In short, when someone gets their boat running right, they write down the temp, humidity, and the flow numbers. That way they can always get back to that point.

Again, just my understanding, which may, or may not be correct.

Go with the one's Boris makes, very sensitive to any needle adjustment, simple, consistent, use constant air pressure, and a must for tuning water flow as with outboards.
