These full hardened, AISI-01 tool steel, split collets are brought to a spring temper before finish grinding their OD's & ID's. The machined spring steel thrust washers allows them to positively clamp cable diameters of .242 to .249 inches, without slipping; when using the machined lock nut. The piece that locates on the steel hub of the aluminum flywheel, which has an internal seat for the split collet, is full hard AISI 0-1 tool steel & it also has its collet seat ground after handening. When all pieces are assembled to the engine, typical concentricity 1.000 in from the nose of the split collet is +- .0002.

A complete set of photos & explanations will be posted in my photo album.

Incredible work as usual Jim, please continue sharing... :)
Thanks Terry,

These pieces are not difficult to make & they will eliminate all problems of slipping, non-concentricity, & different size cables. It is not necessary to solder the cable end when using this type of collet, because the collet cannot be deformed when being clamped; even when using extreme pressure to clamp the cable. Typical collet length is .635.
