Just shorten the screw a little , use loctite on the screw and don't worry about it ......it's an .18 .

JB Weld bonds very well to castings if you clean it properly and roughen the surface. It with stands methanol or petrol but not sure on nitro as i dont use it. Maximum temp 600f, tensile strength 3960 psi. Martin.

wow..... into the screw bore eh.... geez you might have went a little crazy... the rear port should stay in stock form just clean the end out where the factory machine stopped.... to make it larger doesnt do anything for you as the port in the sleeve is only so wide,,you could possibly be disturbing the transition with a cut like that... as for the hole... tom foley hit the nail on the head with the just leave it,,,, once the screw is in there and tight it will be fine... but if you need a case let me know i might have one over here i could give you cheap....

From what I have seen, the pistons in the AQ don't last too much past a couple gallons. There should be a BUNCH of cases sitting around in the bottom of folks' boating tool boxes. I probably have one sitting in the room I am in right now. Would it be better for you to use the case your already ground on, or start over on a new case??

I think in your situation, I would have a hard time NOT buying another engine from tower for $50...and then having a bunch of spare parts if I ever needed them.

I did that with a CVR...needed a set of bearings, and possibly a case. I bought a whole buggy engine that was new, but I think it was missing a manual or something. So I have a spare carb, spare piston/liner, spare rod, a crank I will never use (short threaded) and a buggy cooling head I will never use (ebayed the last one), a pullstart that I will never use. By the time I am done using what I need from the engine and ebaying the rest, I will probably have paid just a few bucks for the part I will actually use.

Just looked around and I have an engine that had the piston wear through the crome in the sleeve. The case looks good to me, though the bearings feel stiff (but you should already have the bearings out of your case if you are dremeling on it). Anyhow, if you want it, I will let it go for a couple dollars over priority shipping cost...just shoot me a PM.

PS, though the carb and crank are in the pic, I plan on pulling those and keeping them unless we make other arrangements for them... So in short, don't expect anything but the case with some stiff bearings in it.

I´m repair broken crankcase (conrod damaged) with " laser beam welding " works perfect, you have to find some specialist in your area. For payment my specalist takes "six pack beer", this crankcase i´m using now long time (~50 liters fuel) without problems.
