Hey Guys,

I was wondering if the Dumas kits are worth building and racing? OR would it be better to purchase a set of plans from Roger Newton? Or as a last resort get a fiberglass hull. Thanks for any and all info.

Bruce

From what I've heard the dumas kits aren't that bad as long as you use lighter marerials and change the sponson depth. Oh wait I guess it would probly be easier to build fromscaled down newton plans.

If I was to start over at this point, I would say the Newton plans or a glass hull from Steve http://www.rcboatcompany.com/

Meli is easy on the eyes

Plus Im tired of sanding on this old Dumas an I've more of a mess than I care to clean up :p :p :p

Hi Bruce, if you have any experiance building WOOD boats, than scratch building from rogers plans is a good way to go, as his plans are very good, if you dont have any experiance than a dumas kit is a good way to get your feet wet! The fastest and easist way to get in the water is with a glass hull.....Phil Thomas (rc marine designs) makes the easist hulls to put together that ive ever seen...though not the easist to prep for paint...epoxyglass pinholes ughh! His boats also run really good right off the board....im finishing an 82u55 hull....nice boat. There are also other really nice glass boats out there..it really pays to research whats out there before you lay your hard earned money down..Have a good one, Bill
