I need to get a new 1/4" cable collet for my CMB 67.

Am I better to go for Square drive or Round (compression) type?

Secondly, which is the better option?

Aeromarine or Accutech?

Bob,

I've always used compression, guess there's pros and cons to both. if you use Aeromarine be sure to check the seat face perpendicular to the drive line. I have found some runout in the past.

Stu Barr had the Aeromarine in stock.

With square drive, the drive dog pushes against the strut. There is no forward thrust against the engine.

With a compression cable nut, the thrust is against the engine flywheel.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both types so I use what the person who designed the boat suggests.

Thanks Guys

To be honest I usually use square drive. But I'm getting a sense that alot of guys are using Round (compression) types of collet so wanted to test that sense before I went a head a bought one for my new scale.

Secondly I just want to know about which of the two types is more commonly used Aeromarine or Accutech?

My hope is that by asking two open questions I'd get more feedback.
