Checking Head Clearance?

What’s the best tool out there to buy to check head clearance? Wasn’t sure if anybody made one readily available now or if it was more like a DIY project.

Plastigage.  if it's good enough for main/rod bearings of a car engine, it's good enough for our toys.
 
Not when the piston and liner is new stock novarossi tight.    Also if there is a difference in the piston crown and head squish angle you are wasting your time with plastiguage.

Agreed. Hard to beat the accuracy of a dial indicator..........

A caliper works well also , bring piston to TDC then remove head button and measure depth from sleeve . Measure step on head button . The difference is your clearance . Add or remove shims accordingly .
