Bontoft smashes gas sport hydro record

Michael Bontoft driving his home built gas sport hydro smashed the 80 plus SAW record at legg lake saturday 97mph . the boat went over 100mph but had trouble backing it up, the wind came up late sunday so he put it away. sunday morning he broke his own record in GX1 with another one of his own home built boats. get this, 109 mph, congratulations Michael Bontoft and Lohring Milller,

Saturday saw Mark Grimm make a 121mph pass with his ? hydro .67 or .80 CMB. Sure was sweet run. He also made several more 110+ mph. Will Gallagher hit 104.485 mph with SGX twin Mac .84's heat racing setup except turn fin. Then Will had an 80 mph pass with his SGX .21 heat racing setup except no turn fin. backed it up with 76 mph pass coming back. those were all sweet runs as well.

We only spent Saturday morning on the gas sport hydro. Even so we had a 101 mph pass, but the wind came up and the boat blew off at the exit timing light. I'm sure the boat can exceed a 100 two way average.

The gas rigger record is now 109 mph. Mike took advantage of some perfect conditions Sunday morning and made numerous passes over his old 102 mph record. The final runs were 110 mph, 108 mph return, and 110 mph again. The wind came up and ended the racing.
