Friday started and finished with perfect weather, slight breeze every now and then but mostly just glass water.
Some fast times straight out of the blocks with Greg Robertson pulling some 1 way passes of 80km/h + with his Sport Outboard, Aaron raising his 15 year old C Hydro record, Daniel snatching the Offshore Lites record on dusk (imagine if he actually did some testing BEFORE he came down??) and myself smashing my old EA Sport Hydro record (after taking a ride of the small ski jump haha). Steve Poulton also popped his boat racing cherry with some passes later in the day.

Saturday morning showed us much the same weather as Friday for the first few hours and then a light ripple set in, still perfect for most people to show some fast runs. Including Brett Ward JUST missing out on his goal of 100mph by less than 1mph, Steven Fox touching the Twin Gas Hydro record a few times, just unable to back it up with a 2 way average. Dion Smith showed us his "Hold it flat out even though it is straight line" method, which proved to work as he was able to raise the B Outboard record with his oval racing setup. Dave Thynne and Greg Robertson put in a few passes with their A Sport Outboards not far off the current record. Stuie Cortis had some engine issue but was able to put in a pass only a few KM/H off the current record. Steve Poulton got a chubby

after throwing 6s into his normally 4s powered mono and punched out a 90+km/h run, fastest he has ever gone, great to see the smile on this guys face, thats what model boating is all about!
Let us also not forget to thank Katie (Mantini) for cooking us all a ripper BBQ for lunch!

Sunday morning, well what can I say, started off with a few gazebo issues lol. After retreiving Aarons gazebo from the lake we got back into some speed runs. Just as Greg put in a 78km/h pass with his A Sport outboard before his engine even warmed up so he could smash the record the wind picked up mid pass and blew him over...the wind never really died down enough for him to try again properly. The wind didnt stop Aaron from setting the M Hydro record higher and Dave Thynne from dropping a 141km/h+ run with his EA hydro. Due to the weather, we decided to pack up at 1pm and head home, this was good timing because it rained heavily as we were driving out the gates.

I think everyone had a fantastic time, some records were broken (un officially 5) and some more were given a scare.

Special thanks goes to Gibbo for the loan of his rescue boat for the event, the Yarrawonga club for organising the use of the ski park, the Mulwala Ski Club for the awesome facility, Greg for picking up, towing around and dropping off the rescue boat, Aaron for all his specialist prop knowledge and prop work he helped everyone with. Thanks to all competitors for coming along and being part of the first of many SAW and 2-lap events our little 'team' put on for everyone to enjoy. Thank you Dave Thynne for the donation of equipment and everyone for helping pack up Sunday arvo.

Now for the fun stuff, the (un-offical) broken records were as follows:

Aaron Alberico: C Hydro 182.741km/h Ave (184.571 fast pass on different run)
Aaron Alberico: M Hydro 152.027km/h Ave (158.451 fast pass on different run)
Dion Smith: B Outboard 95.796km/h Ave (96.282 fast pass on different run)
Daniel Schaffer: Offshore Lites Tunnel 115.237km/h Ave (119.522 fast pass on different run)
Kris Flynn: EA Sport Hydro 169.731km/h Ave (173.494 fast pass)

Too bad we don't have an office in AUS or I would plan a "business" trip to come and run. I know Aussie's are mad crazy about turbo anything so maybe it won't be that hard to convince the higher ups.

I am sure Aaron put a turbo in every vehicle he owned as a young man...I bet that hasn't changed for those people haha.

Can you come over and consult/help with putting a turbo on put 4T forklift at work?
