"Hi Guys,

Here's what has been worked out so far. This rule proposal is being done for a 1 year trial period before being put to vote. This rule set would completely rewrite the current FE rules and is designed to streamline and bring electric racing in line with todays technology.

Please do not post to this thread, it is FYI only.

Class Power Base for Electric Boats.

E-1, up to 7.4V, Up to 10K mAh total capacity on board, any single motor up to 13.5 ounces.

E-2, up to 14.8V, Up to 10K mAh total capacity on board, any single motor up to 13.5 ounces.

E-3, up to 22.2V, Up to 10K mAh total capacity on board, any single motor up to 2 pounds 4 ounces.

E-4, up to 40V Up to 10K mAh total capacity on board, any size or amount of motors.

LSH/LSM, up to 14.8V 5000 mAh total capacity on board, any single 700 size brushed motor.

OPC Tunnel, up to 14.8V Up to 10K mAh total capacity on board, any single motor up to 13.5 ounces.

1/8th Scale, up to 40V 10K mAh total capacity on board, any single motor.

All voltages are based on the NOMINAL manufacturers rating for cell type. In the event of a protest capacity will be checked by pack weight per manufacturers listed cell data within a margin of 5% for wires, connectors, shrink wrap etc. A contestant will be responsible for supplying manufacturers cell data for the type they are using. Motor weight does NOT include the weight of a add-on cooling system. Integral cooling will be counted toward total motor weight.

Electric Hull Length Restrictions

E-1 All mono, and tunnel boats will be no more than 27 inches in length.

E-2 All mono, and tunnel boats will be no more than 34 inches in length.

E-3 All mono, and tunnel boats will be no more than 40 inches in length.

E-4 All mono, and tunnel boats will be no more than 60 inches in length.

E-1 Sport Hydro Max 27 inches

E-2 Sport Hydro 27 to 35 inches

E-3 Sport Hydro 35 to 40 inches

Sport Hydro's may have hardware mounted on transom

OPC Tunnel, All boats will be no more than 33 inches in length.

1/8th Scale, All boats shall be sized/built according to IMPBA Scale Unlimited rules section H-4.

Rigger hulls shall be a max of 60 inches for all classes.

No boat shall weigh over 25 pounds.

Contest and Racing Rules

Change to Heat Racing, Section G page 4;

All Electric classes will run;

1/5 mile oval equals 10 laps.

1/4 mile oval equals 8 laps.

1/3 mile oval equals 6 laps.

Pit Time is 1 minute, all boats must be IN THE WATER by the 30 second clock time.

The number of entries and time available determines the number of heats constituting a race, however, a minimum of three heats is required. For those venues running multiple day events, five rounds of racing per class split over a two day period is recommended.

Additional safety guidelines when using Lithium Polymer (Lipo/Lipoly) batteries;

Charging of Lipoly batteries will be done on or in a non-flammable surface or container out of the boat. Some suggested methods are, fireproof container, baking dish, bricks, clay pot etc.

A suitable fire suppressant or containment vessel will be mandatory in any area Lipoy batteries are being charged. The best and most cost effective fire suppressant is dry sand. A properly rated extinguisher may also be used. It will be the contestants responsibility to provide their own fire suppressant if charging is done in an open environment. No charging of Lipoly batteries will be allowed without the presence of a suitable fire suppressant or containment vessel.

Charging of Lipoly batteries will be supervised at all times.
