Looking for good way to set up third channel needle on VS1. Thinking of trying needle arm from 9B carb locked onto needle with removal of metal detent spring. Looking for pictures of radio box install an any recommended parts or procedures. OS outboard with stock 20J carb. Looking to keep original needle due to IMPBA Sport Tunnel rules.

You can use a OS inflight needle assy and it will screw right in the OS 20J carb.Needle assyTower Hobbies,LXCN51

dave, that won't fly in impba. sport 20 tunnel rules state the stock needle must remain in the stock location. get a ferrette needle base, use the os needle dave mentions & mount it on the inside of the transom. back the stock needle in the carb out A LOT, like 7 or 8 turns. most would say cut it off, but the rules state STOCK needle..... mounted correctly, you should be able to run a straight rod from the servo to the 3rd channel needle. contact don ferrette here on iw for the base. he has righty's & lefty's for mounting options.

The rule book states "adjustable mixture controls will be allowed, however the original needle valve must remain in it's original position" No mention of stock or not cutting the original off and screwing it back into the carb. I wouldn't even bother with a 3rd channel mixture on an OS, they aren't that finicky to tune.
