Running my rigger at the pond yesterday and it made that sickening sound.

Looks like I will need a new rod, piston and sleeve.

Don't know if I can buy one from Joe Wiebelhaus or Mike Hallam.

Kinda of need it for the Can-Am Aug.12-13

Here's the damage.IMG_0236.JPGIMG_0237.JPGIMG_0238.JPGIMG_0239.JPG

Jim what does the cooling head look like. It will help determine the era of the 45 engine. does it have a BLUE head with 45 inked on it?

Jim,

I am pretty sure I have a whole box of parts for your engine.

I forgot the box in my shop this morning, but when I get home

from work today I will shoot Terry the pictures of what is in this box.

Thanks For Reading,

Mark Sholund

Looks like you only need a conrod in that picture. I would give the crank and case a serious once over as well, they could be damaged or scored. When I lost a conrod bottom bushing in the same way in a K&B 45, I also lost the case as it punched a hole right through the bottom.

Ouch! That sucks Jim... I know that Picco bottom end rod situation all too well. I've popped a couple of them that way.

Had a recent failure similar to that but it also broke the wrist pin boss out of the piston and broke the rod.. total loss. Ran really good for 3ft though

Terry,

I will be there on Sunday morning.

I also have about four gallons of UCON LB-625 synthetic oil

if you are interested in it? I am sending the pictures at lunchtime.

Let Me Know Please?

This is a great motor....still have mine running strong in a SG rigger....glad I also have a spare ABC for it but what upset me is the lack of a spare cranckshaft.Gill
