Hey Rick, its just Dupont Nason 2K Urethane primer, buff color. It has a great build, you can thin it down with laquor thinner to spray, and it sands great...and its only about $100 for a gallon kit. Im sure a lot of the nitro croud will disapprove as i know the ppg dcc stuff is top of the line, but with FE, the nason line, and their 2k urethane clear has been great and its not so thick that your adding tons of weight. The price is also a major plus! Mike

Got a little more done last night and at 5:30 this morning. Pulled the first cowlings from the new mold. They turned out good, so I decided to proceed forward with them. As you can see, got those trimed close, now the fine detail work will have to begin to make them a very clean fit against the deck. Also got the deck hatchs cut and fitted. I will be doing an inset where the Allison sits to make it look like its sitting down in the hull as it should. More coming this weekend! Mike

Started fitting the cowlings and this week will fit the front cowl and motor inset into the hatch. The rear hatch as fitted to allow for velcro to hold it on level to the deck. So the bottom plate had to be inset about 1/8" to cover the height of the velcro. It seemed to work out well.

The wood plate is covered in clear tape and is just a gap filler. It is basically where the velcro will sit later in life.

Do to the plug not having the right drop down at the rear, I had to build up that area. Didnt add much weight, even tho it might look that way!

Here are a couple more. Had to put this down while I finished my GP265 test sport hydro over the last couple weeks. Got the motor a little further along, and the rear cowl is closer...front cowl still needs work!

Hey Mike,

I noticed that there are no holes for your hardware. No turnfin, no strut, and no rudder. Is this a plug or are you cutting these in after paint?

Michael, what kind of primer are you using here? Not the typical grey or is that the base coat?

Hugh

Got the Allison finished and painted. Turned out pretty cool! Got the cowlings finished and ready for a final prime coat. Then I will fit the hardware on the hull, reprime, and its ready to spray! Mike

Trying hard at this point to get this boat done as I have some builds for customers I have got to get started on soon. I got it in white yesterday, and put SG100 on so I could let it sit till I had time to do the red, brown, graphics, and clear this week. Here is how it sits now. Fitment on everything turned out well. Did a ladder frame for the front and rear hatches, which will help lock them in better, especially with both cowls and dummy Allison depending on them to stay in place! Enjoy, Mike

Thanks Jerry! Here are some more pics. Got the hull paintwork done, graphics on, and hull sealed out in SG100 so its ready for clearcoat when I get the cowlings finished. Here is where we are so far:

PS: The red is really not how it looks in the pics. It looks like the picture scale down distorted the pixels on the red! Looks odd...but its not really like that in person.

Thanks again Jerry! Yup, 1527 1Y 1250kv on 8s with Castle Ice 240 2-8s Hydra controller. I had enough room for a 10s setup, but just don't think its needed, especially with the 6500mah packs I already have. Mike
