Hi All,

First off I am a newbie :) And instead of asking a question about the .12 riggers I did a search and found this thread. I hope everything went well at the Masters? Is there any word on how Andy or Marks riggers are progressing. I have not become a member of a club or IMPBA yet but I plan too before the spring. I have 2 .12 riggers neither one is complete (1 is a radio away from being done(thats the mini .12) and the other is just a hull at the moment but that will change soon). I plan on going to any races I can find within 200 miles from me or so. I also will race against the .21 if I have too, just so the boat can see the water and others can see whats being done by first time builders. I myself have never raced but I like the idea, I have been to one race and was blown away at the speeds. Ya know I got a RTR boat last summer and have run 2 gallons of fuel thru it and now am building my own riggers. I really look forward to going to Ron Olsen's Fun Run this year and hope People bring there .12 riggers, I would like to see how my little boats compares to what is out there. I am hoping for 40+mph out of my boats but it almost looks like I could get alot more. My mini rigger is just on the verge of sinking if it stalls but I hope it will run well, I think alot of people would say wow that is small with a huge engine in there. I have learned alot from everyone (I guess I will have to cut most of my cooling fins off otherwise the engine will be too cool). I really don't know what would be considered the best stuff to use for boat building but I try and I hope what I make is worthy of the quality stuff I see here. Alot of people here have a big advantage they know what works and what don't, I am going by trial and error until I get to the point of knowing what works. Anyway I will search for answers to my questions before I ask, And I hope to be told of a .12 race in the Midwest so I can attend. Thanks To All that Have Help Me in my Building Process, especially (Tom Moorehouse, Don Templeton and Ron Olsen These guys are the BEST).

Paul

p.s. Don't Be Afraid I will BEAT ya Racing nicely. :)

I was planning on running a .12 rigger at the masters last fall until a fall of my own put me into an elbow cast. This season however I plan on making a lot of D2 and D14 races with not only a 12 rigger but a 12 mono, and Sport 20 Tunnel.

The reasion i picked up the 12 rigger and 12 mono is because its not all about how much you paid for you motor. Its more about the setup, the driver, and if the luck is on your side.

Sure I went out and get a "top of the line" 12 but it costs half of a top of the line 21 and its just as much fun to run.

I hope to see you out on the water, running right behind me :D

Well I have been looking at your costs for building the riggers. I built mine from scratch and its gonna cost a little more than expected I guess. I am not including the starting equipment I bought ($55) or fuel 30% ($25) or Prop I had. I plan on getting a little better radio I want a futaba 3pm fs pro synthesized, but this is my build costs:

Wood.............................$40

Epoxy............................$20

Paint..............................$25

Fastners.........................$10

Foam.............................$10

Fuel Cell.........................$6

Fuel Line........................$5

Boom Tube & Supports....$15

Engine...........................$115

Header..........................$15

Tuned Pipe....................$30

Flywheel........................$15

Flex Coupler..................$15

Hardware......................$85 - (Included everything from coupler back (-prop))

Servos & Linkage...........$60

Radio............................$170

Battery..........................$15

Belt...............................$5

------------------------------------

Total.............................$656

The second rigger wont need radio but will need

Engine...........................$200

Receiver........................$80

Servos & Linkage............$60

Solinger Hardware..........$90 - (I'm not sure what comes with this hardware package, could need more stuff)

Prop..............................$30? - (I'm not sure what Mark charges for a Good Prop)

Flywheel........................$15

Coupler.........................$15

Header..........................$15

Tuned Pipe.....................$30 - (Could be more I am inquiring on other pipes for this application)

Fuel Cell.........................$6

Battery...........................$15

-------------------------------------

Total..............................$556

So as far as I can tell this is costing me a little money............................DONT LET THE WIFE KNOW !!!

On another hand My LHS has a CMB .21 sitting in there display case and its been there awhile I think it is a LS (It does have a Green head if that means anything). What do these engine's cost and would it be a good engine for a .21 rigger?

On another had yet I am going to be given a Traxxas Nitro Vee, it is a plastic hull so I figured I would upgrade anything on plastic (I don't like nitro and plastic). So I am considering building a little "Wild Thing" mono, I haven't done a mono build but what the hell I will try anything once.

I also need a receiver and servos for the RTR I have so all my boats can be on the same radio, I also need to sharpen the lines on the bottom of the hull too.

Ok I have rambled long enough, I still would like to know how Mark and Andy's .12 rigger projects are going and how the master turned out?

Thanks Paul
