1/8 Scale Vintage Miss Chrysler Crew Hydroplane for sale on eBay at NO RESERVE. The boat was built in the 70s and features 100% all painted graphics.
Saw the real one run at Detroit Gold Cup in 1967. She won all 3 of her heats, set fast speed of the event at a tick over 100 mph.
Hank Lauterbach designed the MCC, and it was basically a blown up version of the 7 liter GP hydro, Miss Crazy Thing, who was National High Point Champion.
Chrysler maintained 6 of the 426" Hemi's, that were built by Keith Black, for the program and it was quite an expensive endeavor. She broke quite a bit, but when everything was working right she could hold her own with the best of the aero engined boats.
Sometime around 1983 she had been abandoned in a field to rot away only to later be relegated to a landfill for final burial.
It was really quite a sound to hear those Hemi's screaming down the chutes, and bucking and cavitating in the turns. Sounded far meaner than the Allison and RR Merlin aero engines, IMO.
