    Changing bearings

As it turns out, that is a collar on the shaft. It doesn't show up in the K&B parts drawings but was there anyhow. Heated the assembly in the oven to 320 degrees. Placed the assembly between two pieces of wood and took a punch and tapped in the middle from the underside and it all came apart...

    Changing bearings

I am getting ready to replace the bearings in a K&B .21 outboard that I have had for a while. Should be no issue with the motor bearings but I have never tackled the pto bearings before. It actually looks like there is a collar on the the bottom of the shaft. Any ideas?

Miss Vegas runs great for 1 min then falls flat

Resurrecting this old thread since this describes the issue I have been having with my MVD this summer. I have had this boat for a number of years now and it's always been a reliable performer until this summer. She now runs great for a couple of laps and then sags pretty badly. Mike, when you...

    JAE 21 Radio box

Thanks for the comments. No fuel in the wood. Very well sealed under epoxy. No leaks from other fittings/seams. End of the pipe is a good inch or two above the area with the tape. Will try the sandpaper and different tape.

    JAE 21 Radio box

I seem to have chronic issues keeping water out of the radio box. It leaks in around the tape. Today, the tape lifted at the end under the pipe and the whole radio box flooded and cut short the trip to the pond. I clean the lid and sides with alcohol and have used clear hockey tape as well as...

    Seaducer .21 comb and pipe

Paul, how long have you had the boat? Are you the original owner? How'd it run for you? Why are you selling it? Thanks.

    Bearings…help!

We got the bearings out of the 1st engine and it was the rear bearing that failed that time too.

    Bearings…help!

Glenn has offered to do the rebuild, (which I think is great) so I think I will send him the pieces and let him work his magic.

    Bearings…help!

Thanks for the suggestions. I don't know if the first time it was a rear bearing. I never pulled the crankshaft out to check - just replaced the motor but I will dig out the old motor and do it in the coming days. Prop was worked for that boat (H7 that came off Mike Hallam's). I suppose it...

    Bearings…help!

Thanks for the offer, Tim. I have recently started a business so my time is not my own these days. Including the Sunday that this happened, I have been out to our local club pond a total of two times so far this year :-(

    Bearings…help!

I think we may be closing in on this mystery, thanks to all who have contributed. I often run with Joe Pohl at our club and he was just by here to check out the crank and discuss the issue. Here's the theory; I used WD40 in the motor to remove any residual moisture after running followed by...

    Bearings…help!

Sure. The first failure was 2 years ago. The boat had been running pretty well and I started it like normal and it seemed to be running OK but a soon as I tossed it in the pond, it died. When I retrieved the boat, then engine was seized up. Prior to this it had been eating plugs. Fast forward 2...

    Bearings…help!

Pretty well. It doesn't look out of line and, when all is hooked up, and you turn the prop by hand, it doesn't feel any tighter that my other boats.
