    Turbine Tube Fabrication

Great video. I'm gonna try your method for my Joe soon. Thanks for posting One question though; Does the cardboard (or PVC) tube need to be very close in diameter to the turbine tube you're building?

Thats good to know. You're probably right about the distance and driving. Won't get much sightseeing done from behind the wheel. Never been to the US before, so probably not smart to embark on a massive journey without knowing the place at all. Although I do enjoy a good road trip. Perhaps...

Okay, so the Gold Cup is not the last race of the season. I just learned this. Checked the 2016 schedule, and I see what you mean. Man I need to start following the races when season starts. I do not have access to TV stations like ESPN. Is there some web streaming of the race events? To try...

Sounds like it would be a great experience going to Regatta weekend in Madison. Also sounds like you had a great time in 2011. Accident Weekend huh? Not often rescue boats get hit I presume. A little action never hurts, as long as nobody gets injured or worse.... Been reading a bit on the HARM...

    8806 Miss Madison

You're right, I should do it. But as you mention, it will be expensive with the flying and hotels and all. It's not impossible, but it will take some planning and saving though. Not that I know why, but the Madison race is the most interesting to me. Maybe because of the movie Madison, witch I...

    Smokin Joe rear ride pads/shoes

Now that you mention it, why would they have "1994 Gold Cup Champion" on there during the -94 season Got fooled by the date mark on the photos. Here is one of the first photo I started working from, with Total sponsor on the turbine cowl. Is this the -94 perhaps? Can't see Red Lion Inn...

One time in life I would like to travel across the pond, and see a race.

Then it's decided, I need shoes It's a bit hard to tell from the photos, but I think I see some white on the sponsons there. Is that another way of identifying the variations of this boat?

    8806 Miss Madison

Yes! That's the one. And wow what a race, with two boats jumping the gun. Bet there was some happy people in the town of Madison that day Really a fine looking boat that Miss Madison I think, thanks for posting.

A lot of cool racing videos here. Thanks for posting. Not meaning to hog your thread here, but did the Madison team change sponsor to Oh Boy Oberto somewhere along the line?

    Smokin Joe rear ride pads/shoes

Thanks Don for chiming in. I'll follow the advice on taking a photo and make it close. I do have a few pictures of the -94 with no shoes, and actually really like the sleek look without shoes. But I'm worried about the performance with no shoes. Had a look in your galleries and your Joes looks...

I would never have thought the three boats in that last picture is not the very same....

    Smokin Joe rear ride pads/shoes

Thanks HJ. I've noticed on this picture, as you point out, that the airtrap stops before the shoes start. I'm guessing that bottom break is where the bottom changes angle in about a third boat length from the transom. Sorry for being a noob, but I need to learn the terminology as I go along...

    Smokin Joe rear ride pads/shoes

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the info. Could you say something about the needed angle of the shoe ride surface in relation to the bottom (angle of attack)? I have this picture of the real thing I was trying to copy, but I have no clue what year this was from.

Could I ask you to elaborate on this?

    Smokin Joe rear ride pads/shoes

Thanks for the pics Phil. I have that first picture, and it seems to have no shoes. And from what I've read this was the first configuration, in the -94 season? Would no shoes at the rear affect the handling of my boat? I have heard they are there only to help lift the rear out of the water

    Smokin Joe rear ride pads/shoes

Struggling to find out what to do with rear ride pads for my Smokin Joe. Mocked up a cardboard shoe, but does it look right? The more I search and read, the more confused I get regarding this hull and all it's configurations.
