    FE comes to TCBM

Count me in. I live in Plymouth and have been part of the Edina Model Yacht Club F/E group for years. Been looking for a new place to run.

    Thinking FE

Hey Grim - how you doin these days? Tim - there are a number of us that race F/E in Minneapolis. We race all the spec classes (Offshore, Sport Hydro, Tunnel & Riggger)and many of the open classes as well. The last two years we haven't had much organized racing with the exception of the couple...

    NAMBA Electric OPC Tunnel Rules?

Here's my suggestion. NAMBA should adopt a rule that says we'll only entertain rule changes once every three years or unless an elected officer wants a rule change because of saftey issues. Too many rule changes already - I'm out for this season. BTW - I run F/E OPC and I still don't want to...

    Castle HV Phoenix controllers

I just installed a Baracuda 125 in my P Mono and ran it this past Thursday. The controller performed flawlessly. The motor and batteries came out warmer than the controller did. This particular boat has a habit of melting the Castle 80 amp controllers. No problems with the 125. Dan

    IB3800 field report

Steve, Sounds like for endurance racing the IB's may work better for you. For sprint racing though - I don't think they are as fast as the GP3700's. At least the packs I have don't seem to be. Dan

    IB3800 field report

My personal experience with the IB3800 hasn’t been as good as with the GP3700’s. There not terrible mind you but I don’t think they deliver the voltage as high as the GP’s do under prolonged load. F5B isn't very analogous to how we use the cells in F/E. They use them in short bursts for 5 to...

    9th Annual Batavia Race Aug 6th & 7th

Alan, None of the MN or WI guys will be attending Batavia this year. Maybe next year? Dan Ken, Howie and I are seriously considering it. Canada has a weed problem...like thats news  .....the Canadian FE'ers have hooked up with some Nitro guys and we have been invited so it's...

Rudder mounting location for Vintage shovelnose

Rudder placement on either side. I helped design the vintage shovel nose (if that's the boat you're referring to) and have ran the rudder on either side with good results. I prefer starboard - fwiw. On the servo note - I've had nothing but bad luck with the Hitec 225mg. Stripped gears...

    Hull set up for Lsh

Ditto what Truckpull said. SS1's are available from: http://www.finedesignrc.com/motors.asp#FD-EM%20SS1 They are sold under the "Cordite" brand name, i.e. Cordite SS1. I believe they are on sale right now for $55.00. Electronic Speed Control (esc) available from: http://www.rc-hydros.com/...

    Climate Vintage shovel nose

Larry, Doug Campbell has ran his shovel in O Sport configuration with very good results. He'll have a version of it at the Nats registered in that class as well. This hull started life originally intended for O Sport so - yes, I've done quite a bit of testing with it in O Sport. I think...

    Climate Vintage shovel nose

Riggerman, That's high praise coming from Doug Forrester. His own boat designs are among the fastest out there. I can also attest that the Campbell Shovel is also as fast as anything out there. Last year in Mazomanie, WI I was on the record pace for the LSH record with only two laps left in...

    Composite Lower unit for Outboard

Richard, I've tried twice to e-mail you but haven't received a response. Is there another e-mail address for you or can I PM you an order? Thanks, Dan Proulx

Richard, How can people get ahold of you if they want to place an order? Thanks.

    Who's using Lipo's

Lithium Ion cells are still very much used in R/C. Especially the new "round" cells. With the new safety features that many resellers offer, Lithium should have an improving safety record. Now keep in mind that I'm all in favor of LiPoly - I own a few dozen packs. But last weekend a buddy of...

    Who's using Lipo's

Jeff, Cell phones and other consumer devices have built in circuitry to insure that their Lithium cells aren't over charged/discharged. Also, most consumer devices are using Lithium Ion cells - not Lithium polymer. Dan

    Lipo question

Steve, After retrieving the float plane that had gotten water in it I took the pack out immediately - but, did not cut the shrink wrap off of it to insure that there wasn't any moisture trapped inside. Apparently there was. It took about a 3 days of the pack sitting on my bench before it...

    Lipo question

Jim, Nope - no saltwater. Just good old fashioned lake water. Dan

    Lipo question

Lipos aren't exactly fun to take care of. I've got a dozens of them and I can tell you that's true of the most current crop. They require very close scrutiny to maintain a "balanced" pack. That is, each cell in a series/parallel pack must be equal to the other cells in voltage or you risk...

    GP3700 cells / Nats ect

This really blows! So who outside of the U.S. can we approach about getting good cells. Steve, I'd imagine you've already been pursuing this - I hope.
