    1/8 Hydro prop shaft position

I built my 88 Oh Boy Oberto with a kinked shaft like that, it runs great.

    1/8 scale Griffon Stacks

I have some 3D printed ones in 1/6 scale, wouldn't be to hard to get them printed in 1/8" scale.

    whats everybody working on?

Nuffing, I finished both of them months ago and haven't had anytime to wreck them yet.

    Working front wings

Is anybody actually successfully racing using gyro controlled flaps? I just can't see an auto gyro being able to react quick enough given the margin between being light and blowing over can be incredibly narrow, the change in boat angle seems bugger all. Prefer to just set and forget myself...

    Cellular One Paint Codes

I rebuilt and repainted my 8710 last year. Sorry don't know the codes I used, I just got a photo and got the paint matched to the photo. They looked pretty good against the photos I had and the ones that used to be on the Newton Smugmug site, but he's taken them down. I do wonder if the Blue...

    Cellular One Graphics Help Wanted

Hey guys apologies if you have seen this post elsewhere, I'm getting desperate! Does anybody have a photo of Cellular One with the green Diadora logo on the back of the cowl and a Red "Aeroquip" logo just forward of it? I can see them in the only hard copy photo I have but not clear enough to...

Dumas Miss Circus Circus Pipe Mounting Tips

I used tuned pipes like the CMB AB67 muffled pipe, then had a support clamp around the muffled section as closed to the centre of the cone of the pipe as I could get, that clamp was mounted to the floor of the hull, and then put the rear deck with turbine tube in place first then then when I...

    PAINTING AND SEALING RESIN PARTS

Frankly, I've had good enough success with boring old spray can laquer then I shoot 2 pack Automotive clear over top, mine happens to be a Debeere product, but I really don't think it matters. No science to it, that's just what I do and it seems to have worked with no issues.

    Servo shopping

No worries with digital and analog, have done the same. Make sure you're transmitter is set to PPM mode if it's Futaba, don't know how the otehr brands do it. Only thing I noticed was the extra power consumption of the digital servos which is to be expected.

    1988-89 Oberto

That's my boat just finished it last year, and just started running it. Have put a full build report in my Facebook account. https://www.facebook.com/#!/bob.gutsell/media_set?set=a.4149984317446.171710.1519001777&type=3 I used the RC Boat co cowl as well. I'd been staying out of this thread...

    1982 Pay 'N Pak Turbine

How water proof are those water proof servos? Are they worth the extra cost?

    88/89 Oberto: Finished finally!

Thanks to all who have offered help and Advice, I took the Oberto out this morning with the same strut, prop, & Fuel, but with pipe shortened to 12 1/2" and got her up on the plane for a couple of laps before the engine cut when I backed off to prevent a blowover. Couldn't get t to launch again...

    88/89 Oberto: Finished finally!

That's hilarious Bob, one of the first things I noticed when I got this framing kit was the high amount of angle in that section, seemed way more than the boat should need. Oh well, we'll keep chipping away and see what happens. I'm in touch with a few other guys who have built and raced this...

    88/89 Oberto: Finished finally!

HJ it does seem like a lot, but I don't know what I would do differently to get more weight out of the back, it's just the frames and the skins. Merv it's a 67 greenhead, I deliberately set it at 13" to account for lack of nitro, and give me some torque to get me going with control. Methinks, I...

    88/89 Oberto: Finished finally!

Hey Bob here's some piccies for you. Quite a bit less AOA than what you have. I also weighed the boat tonight 15 pounds with fuel, used dial type bathroom scales, so could be 16 pounds, which doesn't seem too bad. Ironically, it's carrying just under 3 pound on the strut. I'm really starting...

    88/89 Oberto: Finished finally!

Hey Bob, yes it's the MLB newton 137, why do you ask? My AOA is reasonably close, maybe a little less than what you have. Rick the COG is about 2-3 inches behind the Sponson transom. Scott, the engine angle is the same as the angle of the stuffing tube where it exits the hull.

    88/89 Oberto: Finished finally!

Thanks Rick and Wayne, I actually run 5:1, but it may well be the time to bite the bullet and run some nitro. Rick it cavitates and won't get onto the plane. I was running 2-3 degrees negative.

    88/89 Oberto: Finished finally!

Cheers guys, am also running a 1/4" flat bottomed extended strut. Is there any chance that the strut is obstructing the Prop? Secondly, thanks for the prop suggestions. Are you guys de-tonguing your props or running them with tongues?

    88/89 Oberto: Finished finally!

Hey guys ran the boat for the first time this morning. It's taken me forever to get around to running it. But anyway, it runs quite bow heavy and the prop doesn't seem to want to hook up. Tried, X452 and X455 3 bladers along with a X455 2 blader. The nose diving was definitely less with the 455...
