I don't see $3,000.00 !!!! Just someone willing to pay the price! Good luck with your new rigger.

I was told 1500 by Stu and possibly a year wait
Paul,

That's a "finished" kit. All the wood is built, all the hardware is included. But there is a fair bit of finish work involved. Add in the complete radio, engine.... This is a pit ready boat, from a proven pedigree, with a proven record.

And I'll bet a year wont get it. Which is another justification for the price. Not just the access to a boat, but the indicator that a year+ wait signifies. Econ 101... Demand drives pricing.

Thanks. Brad.

Ed,

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Is there really any difference between a standard C6 Corvette and a Z06? Not really. Four wheels and an engine. Sure... There is the R&D to account for, and the additional labor involved in the more "hand built" process, but it's still just a collection of parts, assembled to spec. What makes the Z06 worth $100K+ while the C6 is only $60K? To the buyer, it's all about the performance. If you like the Corvette, but don't care about seeing the world from the back of your skull, you won't "see" any value in the Z06. Same, same.

I can pretty much guarantee there are a couple people who were aggravated they didn't see this post a little quicker than TJ.

Thanks. Brad.

I follow what you are saying all the R/D and everything. So when I get my SGX gas rigger done I'll ask 6,000 only because of all the R/D Andy and his brother have done and are still doing. This is only one of six ever built so far with only a 3-1/2" tub. My comment is not disregard any hard work or R/D to advance this sport. Like you said eye of the beholder.

Greg,

There is none. Once you drive a Crapshooter, you'll never go back to anything else.

Look at what happened here. A (likely) 15-20 year old boat, with some minor race rash, sold for $3K. In seventeen minutes.
Without even a modicum of negotiation.

Thanks. Brad.

Stu, being such a stickler for details, has those boats dialed in. Those boats look so smooth racing and appear
deceptively fast. Hope I can have one someday, because........ Crapshooter.

If you want a modern shooter with minimal wear and tear, you have to be fast on the button. Crapshooters do not come up for sale often, especially 40 boats.. When they do, history on this forum shows that there is seldom time to negotiate. Lucky to have snagged this one. Adding to Brad's comment above, if I wouldn't have acted as quick as I did, I highly doubt it would have lasted much longer lol.

FAR more than 'four wheels and an engine'!..... anything to do with the vehicle performance dynamics is different on the Z06 over
the base 'Y' car. Aero and judicious use of carbon fiber included.... and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Frame structure and bracing
is also more advanced. The Z06 IS track ready, even with an RPO for shaved race tires.

Yep, agreed on your final paragraph! ;)

Available sizes for new Shooter's are 40, 67/80 and twin 67/80's? Maybe a single 27cc or that was a one off Stu built for himself only. Has there been any 91/101 singles built?

Stu's last batch of boats that were built in 2018 were
8- 40's
4 -67/80
2-Single Gas Riggers.
I don't know if he will build another batch of them or not, however, I hope he does.

Tim,

I completely agree. There is way more than what meets the eye. It's my lottery dream car. And that's my point. All that is meaningless to anybody who doesn't care about the performance. For somebody who want "a corvette", anything over $60K (or whatever they're going for these days) is wasted.

If someone offered me 6K, I would sell in a hard beat. I can build them much cheaper than that.

Ed,

You're welcome to place any price you want on literally anything you want. It's the consumer who has the ability to walk away. 🤷‍♂️

It's not the R&D that you are paying for. It's the reputation and observable performance. The R&D is what was required from the builder for what's being sold to carry that reputation and observable performance.

Thanks. Brad.

This has got to be the stupidest thread ever on this site.
Why even run records or race. Let’s just make statements on the internet from where ever we want to and never even be on the clock.
There are lots of really good race boats made and in the right hands any of them can win.
However, over the last 30 years there is one manufacturer that has more US1, national and world championships and records then All the others. Not internet chatter.

Value is in the eye of the buyer not a validation of its usefulness. We live in a era of Bitcoin, where people are paying a lot for something most have never seen. How many millions Are spent on cars every year that are never driven?? Doesn’t make that car the best ever. Somebody just wanted it enough to pay for it.

next there will be a discussion on why seaducers aren’t the best monos. Lmao

Congratulations on the sale and on the purchase!!

Don,

Most of the readily available outriggers carry the rears once they are on a plane. The rears touch on occasion; rough water, turns etc, but the prop holds them off the water under normal conditions. I fully believe the rear sponons allow for pulling more prop. I think this is why we typically see Crapshooters running 1657s while others, particularly those without rears, running 1460s and 1655s.

Thanks. Brad.

Brad, I have been running 3 point riggers for a long time and have found that if the balance is correct they will launch any prop the motor will pull on the top end! 1655 & 1657s were props of choice for my 45 rigger, depending on the size of the course! I truly believe that a true 3 point is a faster all around boat. That being said, a 3 point is much much harder to get set up correctly!

Well said Danny, the key board racers persist in their wild statement's without much actual fact to back them up. To be correct the Crapshooter is a fine boat, however Stu's marketing strategy has bin to limit production and not flood the market with his product. I have seen, raced and touched several Crapshooter's and if you have ever launched one you would have noticed they are extremely light. So with one of today's fine nitro racing motors either stock or modded a light boat will be fast. That's it !! I've watched Stan Simpson run down Stu's 40 boat at Charleston with his JAE. If you ever seen Ralph's twin race in a heat with Stu's twin, you know the results of that. Like Danny said there are many great boats out there that can win on a given day. If you think paying $3000 for an RC boat is your ticket to winning then show up at one of the great nitro races around our country and show us your stuff.
