The 9XL will pull lower amps. Depending on the C- racting of the 4s pack it may be the better choice. With that motor you can safely run the K40&42 carbon props, X440,442,X438,X437,X440-3 blade, Prather 215 and any other props around 37 to 43mm. I run the K40 on my 36 Cat and pull around 70 amps...

Also is the wind in the cable rotating in the proper direction. You will unravle it if the cable is spinning backward. What size cable are you using. You should be using a minimum .150 cable. .187 if you have a heavy torque load. What about thrust bearings? Are you running one on the motor shaft...

Mark that would be great. I was thinking about a heaver hull for testing/running 45 & XL series Bl motors. The extra weight will come in handy. Thanks man :) .

Obrien for the 40 you may want to look into the KB45L series motors. Shorter can than the XL but the specs look to deliver more torque with a higher rpm than the 36mm XL size motors. I have the 8L 2300kv coming in next week for testing in my 36 cat.
