After thinking and rethinking a bunch of ways to secure the back of the cowl I went back to the simplest method I've used on twins, two O rings and two DuBro heavy duty ball studs. The ball studs are mounted on the tub sides 3/4" down the tub side and 1/2" forward of the holes drilled in the cowl for the O rings to pass through, this keeps the cowl preloaded towards the front. The O rings are simply anchored on the back side by a small zip tie to keep them from pulling through the hole drilled just large enough for the O ring to pass though. I actually got this method from Ralph Almirola and it is so simple plus a broken O ring can be replaced in about 30 seconds.
