We are already planning HOBART 2011. Race will be the same weekend as this year, weekend after Labor Day. It is very possible that this next year it will be extended to a 4 day race. I really would like to get at least 4 rounds in and because of the volume that say they are coming(new people), I don't see any other way. Let me know your thoughts. I hear that our Australian brothers are coming and that would be GREAT. This year, we had over $15,000.00 in awards and prizes. Next year will be more. What color of car do you want for winning the "Unlimited" class if it grows that much? I have a few shirts left from this years race. One large and 11 2xL's. Cost is $6.00 plus shipping. Email me at [email protected] if you would like one. Also, someone left a milk crate that had fuel, grease and other stuff in it at this year's race. I can tell you where it is if you want to contact me.

$15,000 in prizes, motors to winners of all classes and the best you could do for the RTR's is a gallon of fuel???? really? Now you joke around about what color of car do you want for the Unlimited class? Yes, I race an RTR and no thats not the only class I race, it is a fun class no matter how much everybody looks down on it. No they dont carry two big greenheads but how bout treating those boaters the same as everyone else. Last year I made the trip without the scale and raced just the RTR, long drive just to race that, they still contribute to your entries. How about a new deuce or something of that sort for those guys? If you can afford to give $500 motors then thats the least you could do. Wasnt able to come this year after attending the first but without trying to be mean, kinda glad I didnt after hearing about it. Again no intentions to mean here just my 2 cents on fairness.

Aaron, for a class to be in a running for a motor it needed to have a certain boat minimum I believe...If you get enough RTR's for next year Im sure Stu will come up with a sweet prize....Stu, I had a great time this year and am looking forward to next year. Class act all the way.

really, what was the boat count and what was the minimum? You know if you look at the parts for a deuce, the motors would be change compared to what some of those prizes were. Dont think it had anything to do with the count, I'm not sure what the count was. Think it has more to do with the fact it aint one of those big bad two motor high dollar boats. But ok.

Aaron,

The prizes were calibrated to the entries. Call me to express your dislike 317-462-9978. I won't say what I really think on your reply. Go race elsewhere. This is a race for the best of the best. There is no room for less.

Wow....unreal....To complain about giving away 15g's worth of prizes not only to winners but a killer raffle is, im sorry, just sad. I didnt go to Hobart to win a motor, as sweet as that would be. If thats all that matters to you than Im with Stu. The real racers come to race for competition and bragging rights. FYI; racers came from both coasts without a boat just to be there, not for the prizes. With what Stu & the City of Hobart does to put on this race to have a post like this kinda pisses me off to be honest.

I dont care for a 4 day race but have some ideas to help it move along at a better pace. This race is so much fun just being around the Hobart people makes it enjoyable. When this season winds down I will call you Stu and see if I can help. Id also like to thank all the NAMBA folks for being there great people and where is that OLD CARD TABLE.....

About 2 years ago we ran 188 Heats in 2 days in Atlanta. It can be done. takes 2 retrive boats running & a CD that can Keep it all in Order & Rolling... Sounds like a GREAT EVENT for 2011.. B)

If you want to get 4 rounds in in 3 days next year just call up the weather man now and order some sunny skies!? all weekend.

I can't believe I am even reading this B.S.............. ....the boat count for the RTR class was 7 boats.......

Am I right in saying that you are wanting a re-distribution of wealth at Hobart?......maybe a "fairness czar"?........how about tarp money for the RTRs or would sensitivity training for the mean old CD satisfy you.......

Correct me if I am wrong but If I am not mistaken The RTR's got the coveted GreenJacket and the embroided towel just like the "two motor high dollar boats" ........what more do you want?????.....The donated prizes are a perk, not the focus of the "Hydro-masters"event.....

What is even more important this event is not just for the contestants but even more it is for the Hobart spectators and the health of RC boat racing.........

I have been doing this for a very long time and in the past 25 years I can't remember an event that showcases our addiction [RC boat racing] more than the Masters race at Hobart does.

Study the crowd at the waters edge .When the "two motor high dollar" boats are running the spectators are [3] deep at the railing......

The City of Hobart expends a ton of resources and money to deliver this event and it is to our benefit to provide the best and most exciting show we can....

This is probably going to fall on deaf ears but just because you have a ticket to the event .....it doesn't mean you automatically get a ride in the limo.

Stu,

If you figure out the prizes based on entries. Shouldn't the car go to the "B" hydro class winner? Unless you're calibrating based on cubic inches of course.Lol

I am with you Rod. The old saying goes; "If you can't run with the big dogs" "Don't get off the dock".

I am one of those two motor high dollar boat runners and have been for over 25 years.

wow, sounds like a few people here dont like what I got to say. but we all have that right to express our opinion, I as well as every one of you. There aint no whining here RAY. I really enjoyed the first race at Hobart, the people, everything, and no I dont go to race for the prizes. I don it for the same reason you all do, but I'm just tired of seeing the RTR's get the short end of the stick because they are the so called beginners. I might not have been at this quite as long as alot of you but as for the "Big Dawg" comment, this "little dawg" has big toys coming next year and I dont plan on staying on the dock. Good day to you all.

Rod,.. you crack me up...

hobart is HANDS DOWN the best race in the impba right now.. if nothing else for the pure fact of the city of hobart and stu, bruce and paula what they have done to promote this and the crowds that come to watch. stu paula kyle and the rest of the gang worked there butts off to run this thing.

I have been going to the masters for over 20yrs.. you have any idea how long it took me to win my 1st jacket? You are lucky that you are getting one man. I look at it like this.. if you go for prizes, you missed the point. I go because i want to race the best and try to beat the best. and i love the fact that a city is willing to jump thru hoops to make this happen and they LOVE EVERY MINUTE OF IT.

oh by the way, we ( meaning my father ) won a boat in the raffle and donated it back to mike z ( grimracer ) to help out his charity. so maybe if you win a prize next yr, donate it to a good cause, and don't complain about it.

OH AND STU......... RED IS MY CHOICE OF COLOR LOL!!!

I would pay money to see that....Chris Wood in a RED Smart Car... :p

Sounds like it is time for a Race committee for the 2011 race... Most racers will travel long distances if the Competition is there & the race is well Organized. I cannot tell you how many trks, trailers, tires & Boats I have Worn out dragging across country to Pump Fuel & Sling Grease with the best in IMPBA Boat Racing..... Great Events are Well Planned.
