I have been thinking about building or buying a gas cat. I have always liked cats and racing one would be great. What one or brand is the best for racing. Any and all info would be great as the ice is just about all gone and it is getting close to race time. Thanks

Theres alot of cats out there to choose from. All have their pro's and con's. With the right setup and luck you can win with just about any of them.

In no particular order... Insane Gen2, Seaducer, F41 Stryker, Conquest/Avenger, Sprintcat are about the popular ones you'll see out mixing it up.

I run a Insane myself.. fast in the straights and corners well. Takes the rough water good when trimmed right.

Thee's a Seaducer Cat in D-2 that seems to rule around here. It wins in both oval and the offshore class. I don't care much for the looks but there's no denying that it does the job.

The new A.C. Model Boats R 42 might be a winner once they get the new boat bugs out of it.

The Seaducer seemed to rack up in D-12 as well. It definitely stood out at our District race.

any can win just need right setup on them and balanced.

i run a aeromarine avenger pro

F41 Stryker
Jérôme, of friend of mine, who designed it! Great hull in my opinion.

I also like the AC cats, like the Blact cat

I have a aeromarine avenger pro hull I don't plan on building. And a mod zenoha/brand new. Send me a p.m. if you're intrested. Price is reasonable. Thank's, Glenn

R42 from AC all the way .. man that boat is fast ! use a 6717 in rough water and a NB01 in flat water for speed junkies ...

I just sent the money out today for a used Stryker Cat that placed second here in D-2. I don't think I've got enough money to buy Chris Rupley's first-place finisher. The deal was too good to turn down.

Chris' cat isnt for sale anyway.... i was supose to buy it and he got cold feet and decided to keep racing it.

Chris' boat is one of those that there would have to be one helluva lot better one to replace it or you'd have to unwrap his cold dead fingers from around!

When you go to a D-2 race I think that most other racers just plan on fighting it out for second.

Picking up the one that finished second in the points last year was the best that I could do for the money (and for sale reasonably) but now have to worry about what Vince is going to replace it with!

There is a discussion going on now over at Jim's about the Aeromarine Sprint Cat and how it's been one design that has always been there and how well it still does against the Cat's that haven't been around as long.

****, it's always somethin'!

Ok I saw this cat forum. Question? why is this cat forum on the mono area?? I thought cats where a cross between a hydro and V?? I'm hoping soon to start thrashing on my Team Striker Supercat again.Got to find a motor for it tank and header and tune pipe and one big servos and then she would be ready to run.

Show me any forum site with a R/C Cat boat forum and we'll be there! I couldn't care if it's nitro, gas, electric or sail. I'd settle for steam powered if they had one.

It's just too bad that Gas Cat's are the only ones taking off as I wouldn't mind having a nitro powered if they didn't throw them in with the 'riggers at races.

Isn't a cat just a twin mono? Gas seems the direction things are going right now for sure.

A cat is a hydro, not anywhere near a mono. You can think of a Cat as a tunnel with a raised tunnel/lowered sponsons. Though cats like my Insane Gen2, have a unique bottom that not many other cats do.

Ok Ron.~ The cats are growing on me. Plus your hooked lined and sinkered on the cats too. :D Cat are virsetial and be run on chops or clam waters. Biggest thing is there looks. I can see why Joe likes them. :) Rigged like the bottom design on your hull. I wouldnt mind fabing one on my team striker supercat to see how she handles. I bet that center V part keeps the cat more stable and planted more into the water.

Yes it does help with keeping it stuck to the water.... but when trimmed where its only running with very little hull in the water with the sponsons up, a little too much air in the tunnel will still make it fly. Like what happened on this pass attempting another 70mph run
