I just finished painting my Hotshot 45 tunnel. would like some suggestions as to where I should adjust the motor, props to try ect. I believe on the plans (which I already tossed) had the motor mounted level with the prop in line with the sponsons bottom. Does that sound right? Im using the adjustable dubro motor mount, the motor I will be using is a Picco 7.5 O.B. with the red head. I havent bought a radio for it yet, so I may need some pointers. Iam looking at an Hitec FM Aggressor. And finally, the plans show a Pull-Pull flex cable setup for rudder control, but I am going to try using solid 4-40 rods threaded on the O.B. side using these bolted on ball links and on the servo end I was going to solder on some metal clevis. how does that sound? all suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Ron.

The prop depth should be from level with the bottom of the sponsons to + 1/8".

You will want to make sure the steering servo is capable of at least 150 oz in. of torque for a 7.5 engine.

A single solid 440 rod on the right side of the steering arm should provide sufficient pull/push to turn the boat. Personally, I prefer two rods.

Hi Jerry,

Thanks for the input. Unfortunatly I dont have the plans for the boat. My wife was cleaning the house and ANYTHING on the floor is fair game. The boats finished iam just instaling the hardware, ect.

How about props to start with?

with the Picco 7.5 what would my top speed look like? assuming it runs good.

Also, what would be a good servo I could use? I am looking at a FM Hitec.

I'm running an Octura X447 on my 34" WOF with a Nelson 45. The X448 is another good choice. Reworked 1450s work, but unless you know something about reworking props you'd be better off with the X series. That's just my opinion.

You're asking a Futaba sponsored driver to advise you on HiTec? Well, they are good radios but I really don't know anything about which style servo would work best. Like I said, get something with at leaase 150 in. oz. of torque. HiTec probably has a website providing info on servo output.

Futaba is probably the most popular radio out there. I was looking at Hitec mostly because the LHS stocks them. I still have a bunch of the old AM 2 channel stick Futabas I used on my F/E hydros 14 yrs ago. Iam afraid to use them though because of the old tech.

Thanks for the info.
